Tea Rooms
All five tea rooms handle the food, through their own kitchens or, at the L.S. Ayres Tea Room, the museum’s caterer. Rustic Root also lets you bring a cake from any bakery. The Tea Room of Rustic Root
Where: 626 Main St., Beech Grove
Price: $150 for two hours of exclusive use of a room, plus food and a 20% gratuity for celebrations

Rustic Root rents six spaces: the Lilac Room, the Rose Room, the Upper Tea Room, the Gazebo, the Garden Shed and the Front Porch. Afternoon tea is chosen by the table, not by each guest, and runs from tea and scones at $13 a person to Grand Tea Time at $30, which brings two teas, two sandwich choices, soup, a scone with clotted cream, specialty bread and sweets. Kids 12 and under can order the $15 Princess Tea, tiara included. Bring a cake from any bakery you like. The tea room is open Tuesday through Saturday, and the last reservation of the day is 3:30 p.m.
Sassafras Tea Room
Where: 229 N. Madison Ave., Greenwood
Price: $18 a person for a lunch or tea party (entree, side salad, scone and drink), plus tax, a 20% gratuity and dessert
Holds: 40 seated, or 40 to 50 for a buffet or open house
Sassafras books bridal and baby showers and keeps the food in-house. No outside food is allowed, and the tea room’s baker makes the cake, cupcakes or petit fours. Planning meetings are by appointment, because the staff is too busy to plan events during open hours, and the signed event agreement and any deposit are due a week before the shower. Lunch runs 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. A small group that only needs a table can book the regular Duchess Tea at $30 a person, with tax and gratuity included.
L.S. Ayres Tea Room
Where: Indiana State Museum, 650 W. Washington St., Indianapolis
Price: $300 for two hours between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. ($200 for museum members), plus catering
Holds: 15 to 64
The original L.S. Ayres Tea Room opened in 1905 inside the department store at Washington and Meridian streets. The Indiana State Museum‘s version has been open since 2002, and it seats 64 instead of nearly 400 but reproduces the columns, wallpaper, carpet, chandeliers and even the treasure chest. The small-group rental comes with the tea room’s tables and chairs. Food comes only from Kahn’s Catering, the museum’s caterer, and is priced separately. An extra hour is $100, the museum takes a 50% deposit, and candles must be LED. Guests park in the White River State Park garage at a discounted rate, or the host can prepay.
The small-group rental isn’t available from Thanksgiving to New Year’s, when the tea room opens to the public for holiday lunches from Nov. 27, 2026, to Jan. 3, 2027. The buffet, with chicken velvet soup and tea-time sandwiches, is $39 for adults and $21 for kids, free for 3 and under, with tax and service included, and tables are reserved on OpenTable. Twigs & Tea
Where: 11399 Lantern Road, Fishers

Twigs & Tea is a tea room and gift boutique with a baby shower service of its own. Showers get the full lunch and tea menu, and the desserts are made in-house, including Italian cream cake, white chocolate bread pudding and scones with clotted cream. Afternoon tea is by reservation from 1 to 3 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. The boutique side sells baby decor and gifts.
Ms. B’s Teas
Where: 4883 Iowa St., Clayton
Price: Shower pricing by quote; the daily afternoon tea is $35 a person
Holds: A section of the tea room, or the whole room
Ms. B’s is a Hendricks County tea room that sets aside areas for tea gatherings or rents out the entire room, and showers are among the events it hosts. The daily afternoon tea brings a pot of tea, a scone with clotted cream and jam or lemon curd, finger sandwiches and mini desserts, and a larger tea menu for a party is planned when you reserve. Vegetarian and gluten-free choices are available every day, and vegan with advance notice. The tea room is open Wednesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Restaurants and Private Dining Rooms
All three restaurants quote after you send the date and headcount, and all three cook and pour for the party themselves. Liter House is the one that books from 7 a.m., which suits a morning shower.
The Cake Bake Shop
Where: 6515 Carrollton Ave., Indianapolis (Broad Ripple); 799 Hanover Place, Suite 260, Carmel (Carmel City Center, upper plaza level)

The Cake Bake Shop books showers at both of its Indiana restaurants. Broad Ripple’s private room seats 12 at one long table by a marble fireplace, for a two-hour reservation. Carmel has more choices: a large table for 9 to 14, the Petit Trianon (20) and Grand Trianon (40) on an enclosed patio with heated floors, and two private salons, Fontainebleau and Mal Maison, that seat 20 each or 40 together. A partial buyout holds 60, and the full restaurant 120. The menu is printed for the event and set at a planning meeting, and the events team can order flowers. Outside balloons aren’t allowed. Parking in Broad Ripple is very limited; in Carmel, use the Veterans Way Garage and walk up to the plaza level. Send a request through the Cake Bake private dining page.
The HC Tavern + Kitchen
Where: 9709 E. 116th St., Fishers

Holds: 14 to 120 across five rooms
The Fishers restaurant in The Yard at Fishers District has five private and semi-private spaces on two floors: the Connor Room (14), the Hamilton Room (50), the Terrace (30), the Loft Bar (10 seated, 30 standing) and the Loft (50 to 120). Brunch runs 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The restaurant closes on major holidays, including Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Liter House at Half Liter
Where: 5301 Winthrop Ave., Suite B, Indianapolis

Holds: 42 in the Winthrop Room; 175 seated in the Liter Room
Liter House is the banquet side of Half Liter’s barbecue and beer hall. The Winthrop Room has big windows and space for a buffet and your own decorations, and the Liter Room has its own bar and restrooms. Banquet hours run 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. every day, so a morning or midday shower works. Liter House caters from its own menu, with chef and mixologist consultations. Wineries
Each winery here has a room sized for a shower. Peace Water lets you bring your own food, while Daniel’s Vineyard requires its preferred caterers and a beverage package.
Peace Water Winery
Where: 37 W. Main St., Carmel; 11547 Yard St., Fishers
Price: $50 an hour Tuesday through Thursday, $100 an hour Friday through Sunday; Carmel’s covered patio is $100 and $150
Holds: 20 in Carmel’s Peace Pod, 50 on the Carmel patio, 32 in the Fishers Community Room, eight in the Fishers Library Room
Peace Water lists baby showers among its private events, and it is the low-cost choice for hosts who want to bring the food. Outside food and nonalcoholic drinks are welcome, any caterer can deliver, and wine is bought from the winery. There’s no kitchen or sink, so bring your own plates and silverware; the winery recommends disposables and provides trash bags. Setup and cleanup count against your rental hours. The Carmel patio, with a raised stage, is open spring through fall. In Fishers, booking both rooms Friday through Sunday saves $50 an hour. The full rental fee and a security deposit are due at booking, and a cancellation more than 30 days out gets half back. Both tasting rooms are closed Mondays.
Daniel’s Vineyard
Where: 9061 N. 700 W., McCordsville
Price: Room rentals by inquiry; a group reservation for up to 20 is $350 for two hours and includes a $300 gift card
Holds: 25 in the Upper Lounge; up to 200 in the Lower Ballroom
Daniel’s Vineyard lists showers for its Upper Lounge, Upper Balcony and Lower Ballroom. The Upper Lounge holds 25 for a three-hour rental, with soft seating, a farmhouse table, a TV and a view of the wine production area. The 2,900-square-foot Upper Balcony has retractable walls, and the Lower Ballroom seats up to 200. Every room rental requires food from the vineyard’s preferred caterers (or a buyout fee) and a beverage package. The lounge, balcony and terrace can only be reserved within a month of the event date. The simpler route is a group reservation: up to 20 guests get a dedicated spot on the covered patio, in the tasting room or in the lower banquet area for two hours. There’s no server, and gratuity is extra. Gift bags start at $45 a person. Choose “Baby/Bridal Shower” on the vineyard’s private event form.
The Sycamore at Mallow Run
Where: 7070 W. Whiteland Road, Bargersville

Holds: 25 to more than 200; the Homestead Room is just over 1,500 square feet
The Sycamore is Mallow Run Winery’s event building, a quarter mile from the tasting room. Its Homestead Room is sized for smaller receptions and bridal and baby showers, with its own entrance, restrooms and patio access and a wall of windows. A Farm, Two Mansions and a Lakeside Room
These four are the picks for a setting: a working dairy farm, a Carmel mansion, an Old Northside mansion and a county park room over Morse Reservoir. Traders Point and Ritz Charles cater everything, and Osprey Pointe lets you bring it all in.
Traders Point Creamery
Where: 9101 Moore Road, Zionsville

Traders Point Creamery is an organic dairy farm with historic barns, a restaurant and a dairy bar. The Roost is the year-round shower room, with floor-to-ceiling windows over the farm and gardens, an open-air balcony, handmade wood tables, a fireplace and a bar. The Beach Porch, open-air over the pond and pastures, runs spring through fall with family-style dishes, and the farm names showers among its uses. The chef sets a custom menu, and farm tours can be arranged by phone. When we hiked the farm’s pasture loop, it ran right past the Brown Swiss and Jersey herd and its calves. Coxhall Mansion
Where: 11669 Towne Road, Carmel
Price: By inquiry; Ritz Charles sells all-inclusive packages
Holds: 85
Ritz Charles runs the mansion at Coxhall Gardens as a year-round event venue. Its main-floor ballroom has French doors that open to a patio, and the 125-acre grounds surround the house. From May through October, the garden spaces (the Centerpiece, the Cripe Pavilion and the Willow Tree) hold up to 250. Ritz Charles provides all catering and bar service, and an outside dessert may be allowed for a fee with approval. The mansion is fully ADA accessible, and parking is free on site.
The Indianapolis Propylaeum
Where: 1410 N. Delaware St., Indianapolis
Price: Quote after a private tour and a short questionnaire
Holds: 100 seated in the mansion; 60 seated in the Carriage House
The Propylaeum books weddings and showers and points small gatherings to its front parlors. The mansion has four rooms on the first floor, and the Clubroom seats 85 theater-style. Parking is a 45-space private lot, plus free street parking on Delaware and 14th streets. Osprey Pointe Pavilion
Where: Morse Park and Beach, 19777 Morse Park Lane, Noblesville
Price: $240 for four hours for Hamilton County residents, $360 for nonresidents; extra hours $60 or $90; tax and fees extra
Holds: 99
Hamilton County Parks rents this room over Morse Reservoir for weddings and other social events, and booking is online. It comes with 20 six-foot tables and 100 chairs, a kitchenette with a microwave and full-size refrigerator, restrooms, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth speakers and an on-site security guard. Bring your own food or caterer. Beer and wine are allowed only in cans or boxes, and only with a host liquor liability certificate and an Indiana ATC permit filed 14 business days ahead. Confetti, glitter and lit candles aren’t allowed inside, except candles on a cake, and decorations go up with masking or painter’s tape only. Renters set up, tear down and vacuum within their rental window, which can run from 8 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. Full payment holds the date, and canceling at least 30 days out gets a refund minus the processing fees. Morse Park also has a lakeside playground.
Booking a Baby Shower Venue: Add-Ons, Food Rules and Timing
The posted price is only the start at several of these venues. Sassafras adds tax and a 20% gratuity, Rustic Root adds 20% for celebrations, and The Cake Bake Shop adds tax and a 24% gratuity to its quote. The L.S. Ayres rental fee covers the room only, with Kahn’s Catering billed separately, and Daniel’s Vineyard requires a beverage package with every room.
Peace Water and Osprey Pointe are the two venues where you bring the food or hire any caterer. Rustic Root lets you bring a cake from any bakery, and Ritz Charles may allow an outside dessert for a fee. Sassafras, Traders Point and Liter House cook for the party themselves, the L.S. Ayres Tea Room uses Kahn’s Catering, and Daniel’s Vineyard works with its preferred caterers.
Decorations have rules too. The Cake Bake Shop doesn’t allow outside balloons, the L.S. Ayres Tea Room allows only LED candles, and Osprey Pointe bans confetti and glitter and allows masking or painter’s tape only.
Timing matters at a few places. Daniel’s Vineyard books its lounge, balcony and terrace no more than a month ahead, the L.S. Ayres small-group rental isn’t offered from Thanksgiving to New Year’s, and Traders Point’s Beach Porch and the Coxhall garden spaces are spring-to-fall only. The Propylaeum gives a quote only after a tour. At Peace Water and Osprey Pointe, setup and cleanup come out of your rental hours, so count them when you pick the length of the rental. Peace Water and Osprey Pointe take the full fee when you book and refund only on cancellations at least 30 days out, and Peace Water returns half. The Cake Bake Shop and the State Museum each take a deposit, 50% at the museum.
