These indoor playgrounds around Indianapolis give kids room to climb, slide and burn off energy when it’s too cold, wet or hot to play outside. Smiley Indoor Playground
Smiley is a 25,000-square-foot play center in Castleton built for kids from 9 months to 10 years: trampoline basketball, climbing walls over a foam pit, raceway slides that end in a ball pit, an obstacle course with a giant ball dumper, an interactive projection rice pit and a LEGO room. The arcade and virtual reality area is for ages 9 and up.
Location: 5729 E. 86th St., Indianapolis
Cost and hours: Smiley’s website lists no hours, and its price table dates to 2021. The front desk is 317-983-3434.
The Busy Bee Play Cafe
The Busy Bee is a northwest side play cafe for ages 1 to 10, with pretend play houses, a quiet room and a cafe with coffee and snacks for the grown-ups. Grip socks are required for kids, and reservations are recommended on weekends and weekday mornings.

Cost: $17 per child, all day with re-entry. Under 1 free with a paid sibling ($5 without one).

Kids Empire
Kids Empire is on the south side near County Line Road. It has a multilevel maze with winding slides, a ball pit and a light-up dance floor, plus a toddler zone with mini slides and soft blocks. It’s open every day, holidays included.

Cost: $19.90 per child ages 1 to 17, all day with re-entry. Two adults free per paid child; infants under 12 months free with a paying sibling.

Sky Zone (North, South and Plainfield)
Three trampoline parks with freestyle jump courts, foam pits, dodgeball and ninja courses. Little Leapers, for kids 6 and under, runs Saturdays from 9 to 10 a.m. at Indy South and Plainfield. Every jumper needs a waiver and Sky Zone’s grip socks.

Adrenaline Action Park
Adrenaline is a Fishers activity park with a warped wall, trampolines, a ropes course, Sit N’ Zip and an air court. Toddler Time, for kids 5 and under, is Friday and Saturday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Guests under 18 need a guardian 21 or older, and everyone signs a waiver.

Urban Air Adventure Park (Noblesville and Plainfield)
Urban Air has an indoor zip line, a warrior course, a ropes course, climbing walls and the Tubes indoor playground at each park. Jumperoo toddler time is 10 a.m. to noon Wednesdays and Fridays in Noblesville and Fridays in Plainfield. Sensory-friendly play is 9 to 11 a.m. on the first Sunday of the month at both parks, plus the third Sunday in Noblesville.

Slick City Action Park (Brownsburg and Geist)
Slick City is an indoor park with dry slides, some of them more than 20 feet tall, and bouncy air courts. Action tickets are for ages 4 and up, and the Junior Jungle is for kids under 45 inches. The Geist park is on Fox Road on the far northeast side. Grip socks ($4.99) and a waiver are required.

Storybook Play Cafe
A Greenwood play cafe with storybook-themed play areas, best for kids under 8, and a cafe with coffee and food. Reservations are strongly encouraged, and kids need non-slip socks. A Toddler Tuesday session can be booked online.

Funland Indoor Playground
Slides, a ball pit, a zip line and a toddler area for kids 10 and under in Noblesville, with a snack bar that sells ice cream. Admission has no time limit.

Carter’s Play Place
Carter’s Play Place is an inclusive Westfield playground built for kids of all abilities, with a two-story play structure, a foam pit, a trampoline, a zip line and adaptive equipment. Kiddie Carter’s, for ages 4 and under, runs Tuesday and Thursday mornings, and Calmer Carter’s is a Tuesday evening session by text RSVP. Coffee, water and popcorn are free, and families can eat their own snacks in the lobby.

Cost: $18 for ages 1 and up, $15 for each additional sibling, plus $3.50 socks. Adults free, unlimited time.

We Rock the Spectrum Kids Gym
We Rock the Spectrum is a sensory-safe gym in Carmel for kids of every ability, with an arts and crafts area off the gym floor. When our writer’s family visited, the zip slider was the biggest hit. A parent stays with each child, and adults wear socks on the gym floor.

Cost: $18 per child for two hours; siblings $15
Hours: Open play Mon.-Fri. 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Weekend times are posted on its social media.
Build It Playground
A kid-sized construction site in Carmel for ages 1 to 10, with ride-on excavators, a remote-control town, Rigamajig building pieces and a sand table. First-time builders get two excavator tokens. It’s closed Wednesdays for now while the play area is improved.

Cost: $18 for 60 minutes or $30 for 120 minutes; one adult free per paid child

Prana Play
Prana Play is a sensory-friendly Carmel play space open to all kids from toddlers through preteens. It has a TreeNest climbing structure and a pretend-play town with a vet clinic and grocery store, plus Twilight Time, a low-stimulation calm room. On our visit, the main play area was one room with plenty of seating, so a parent could sit down and still keep an eye on the kids.

Dig Dig for Kids
Dig Dig for Kids in Fishers bills itself as Indiana’s largest indoor sandbox, and it’s filled with construction trucks and tools. It’s built for ages 2 to 8, and the sandbox is a no-shoes, no-socks space. Our reviewer, a mom of two construction-obsessed boys, found the sand soft and clean and the visit calm.

The Nest Play Cafe
A Montessori-inspired play space for babies through age 6 at 22nd and Central in Fall Creek Place, near the Monon and the Cultural Trail, with an espresso and sandwich cafe. Reservations are recommended, and everyone wears socks.

Indoor Playgrounds at Museums and Community Centers
Wellspring at Conner Prairie
Wellspring is a climbing landscape inside Conner Prairie’s Museum Experience Center, with passageways, a sycamore tree to climb and a foam quarry to jump into. Spark!Lab, a Smithsonian invention space, is in the same building. From Nov. 3 to Dec. 28, 2026, the Museum Experience Center is the only part of Conner Prairie open, and Discovery Station is closed with the rest of the grounds.

Playscape at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis
Playscape is a gallery just for kids 5 and under (older siblings can come along as helpers), with a water table, a sandbox, a netted climber, art and music studios and Babyscape for ages 2 and under. Playscape is closed for updates, including a new water table, and reopens Saturday, Nov. 7, 2026.

KiD CiTY at Greenwood Community Center
KiD CiTY is a two-story playground with a Luckey Climber, a pretend grocery store and kitchen, a giant Lite-Brite wall, an interactive floor, a bead roller coaster and a pirate ship. Guardians get in free with a child, and every day-pass user shows a photo ID.

Cost: Day pass $5 for Greenwood residents and $7 for nonresidents, ages 1 to 15; under 1 free

Monon Station at the Monon Community Center
A Luckey Climber, pneumatic tubes that send balls and scarves flying, oversized foam blocks, a wall-sized Lite-Brite and a soft play area for crawlers. Kids under 11 need an adult right with them.

Cost: Day pass $15 for ages 3 to 15 and $18 for adults; Carmel residents get $3 off

Broad Ripple Park Family Center
Kid’s Corner, the indoor playground inside the Broad Ripple Park Family Center, costs $2 a child. The center also has a free indoor walking track.

Fishers Community Center Indoor Playground
The Fishers Community Center has a free two-story playground with a toddler zone for kids 12 and under. Reservations are no longer required: walk in as space allows, or book a one-hour slot up to 48 hours ahead. On our January visit, the climber reached very high but felt secure, and big windows light the room.

Free Indoor Playgrounds Near Indianapolis
Most of the free indoor playgrounds on this list belong to churches. Several ask for a waiver or an adult ID at the desk, and open play hours are short, so match the trip to the hours in each entry. The free things to do in Indianapolis list has more no-cost ideas.
The Treehouse at Plainfield Christian Church
The Treehouse is a tree-shaped climbing structure for kids from birth to 8. The top level is for ages 5 and up, and kids wear athletic shoes. Enter through Door 5, and there’s free coffee for adults.

The Park at Traders Point Christian Church
The Park has two play areas, one for kids 3 and under and a bigger one for older kids, plus picnic tables where snacks are allowed. Kids wear socks, and every adult checks in with a government-issued ID. The Park fills up often; it reached capacity during our visit, and its web page shows a live occupancy status and the month’s hours.

Cornerstone Lutheran Church Play Area
Cornerstone Lutheran has a multilevel playground for kids from birth to 12, with a separate space for 3 and under. Everyone wears socks, and when there’s a waitlist, play is limited to 30 minutes. Cornerstone also runs a free play area at its east side Indianapolis campus, 2837 E. New York St., Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon.

The Hideout
A Brownsburg play space for kids up to 10 with a climbing structure, rotating toys, sensory activities and a make-your-own coffee bar. Open play is free, and a waiver must be signed online before the first visit. Kids and adults both wear socks.

The Commons in Columbus
The James A. Henderson Playground at The Commons, about 45 minutes south of downtown Indianapolis on Interstate 65, has a two-story Luckey Climber for ages 5 to 12 and separate toddler and preschool areas. It’s free and unsupervised, so an adult stays with each child. Shoes stay on, and food stays out.

Playzone at The Community Center at AFC
Playzone, in Anderson about 45 minutes northeast of downtown Indianapolis, has a five-level climbing and slide structure, a preschool zone, a climbing wall and a creative zone with LEGO tables. It’s for ages 2 to 12, and adults must bring a government-issued ID.
