A Guide to Indoor Pools and Water Parks in Indianapolis

With the cold months once again upon us, it’s key for parents to find some energy-burnin’, budget-friendly activities to keep kids busy and having fun!

Swimming is the perfect activity for any season, especially as a treat in the wintertime. Luckily, the Indy area has tons of indoor pools and aquatic centers with amenities like zero depth entry and waterslides. Make sure to check a posted schedule or call ahead, because many locations only offer open swim at designated times. Don’t forget your flip flops!

Indoor Pools in Indianapolis:

Monon Community Center

Address:1235 Central Park Dr E, Carmel, IN 46032
Features: The indoor pool space is a great place for kids and adults. It features an indoor lap pool, two adventure slides and an activity pool. Plus, swim lessons take place in the afternoon and evening.
Cost: Free for members; $13 for nonmember kids (3-15) and $16 for nonmember adults (16+)

 

Goldfish Swim School: Carmel, Fishers, Greenwood

Address: 271 Merchants Square Drive, Suite A 110, Carmel; 11581 Geist Pavilion Drive Suite 114, Fishers; 1675 West Smith Valley Road, Greenwood
Features: The Swim School has a traditional pool, heated to 90 degrees, with a glass parent viewing area. The center is filled with vibrant colors chosen to inspire kids.

Stony Creek Swim Center

Features: Stoney Creek features a range of classes starting for child at 4 weeks of age. SCSC is one of the only programs in the area that has classes specifically designed for fearful, older beginner swimmers and adults.

Splash Island

Address: 651 Vestal Rd., Plainfield
Features: The indoor pool at Splash Island offers a slide with water geysers in the wading pool, a larger area for water basketball, lazy river and large spiral slide. They also have a lap pool, designed for several exercise classes and those that enjoy swimming regularly. 
Cost: Day passes are $10 for kids 5-17, $8 for 4 and under, and $11 for adults

George Washington Community School Pool

Address: 2215 West Washington St. Indianapolis, IN
Features: The basic high school pool has the ultimate bragging right: a giant floating obstacle course in the middle of the pool. Must pass a swim test and go to the deep end to play on the rock wall.
Cost: Free for children under 2; $2 for children 3-17; $3 for adults

Thatcher Park

Address: 4649 W Vermont St, Indianapolis
Features: A Speedway area favorite, Thatcher Park’s indoor pool is a great place to warm up on those cold, cold days.
Cost: Free for children under 2, $2 for kids (2-17), $3 for adults

Indy Island Family Aquatic Center

Address: 8575 East Raymond St. Indianapolis, IN
Features: The newly renovated aquatic center includes a leisure pool that goes from a zero-depth entry to 3 feet in depth. The Water Playhouse boasts a small slide, geysers, and lots of spray features. The cherry on top is a water slide for kids of at least 48 inches.
Cost: $5 for kids and $6 for adults; kids 2 & under are free.
