Butler Ballet proudly presents the only fully staged production of Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker in Central Indiana. A holiday tradition, children and adults will be dazzled and delighted by spectacular dancing, beautiful costumes, glorious scenery, and pyrotechnical magic. The brilliance of Tchaikovsky’s music will be brought to life by the Butler Ballet Orchestra and the Indianapolis Children’s Choir under the direction of Richard Auldon Clark.

This full-length modern version of the holiday classic is presented by the Academy of Gregory Hancock Dance Theatre and other young local student dancers filling the stage with movement and color! It follows the same overall storyline as the original, but with a uniquely different twist: This magical updated version portrays Klara as a homeless orphan girl who discovers the true meaning of the season through the gift and the giving spirit of a homeless man.

Tchaikovsky’s familiar, captivating score brings her adventure to life as she braves a battle with the wicked rats, saves her Prince, and travels to the Kingdom of the Sweets.

FOR THE WIGGLE WORMS
Listen to the wonderful story of “The Nutcracker”, as told by the beautiful dancers of the Central Indiana Dance Ensemble. Enjoy pictures and dancing with the characters after the story! Perfect for ages 3-12. Registration is required and opens on 11/7. Limited space is available, so register early!

WHERE: Hussey-Mayfield Public Library, downtown Zionsville
Come as you are to a short dance performance of excerpts from this classic holiday ballet for families and children of all abilities. This performance is a partnership event with Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation Adaptive Program and Village Dance Studio. The house lights will be raised, sound will be lowered, and dance space will be open for those who want to dance along!

Children ages 3 and older and families are invited for a special storytime presented by the Ballet Theatre of Indiana. Those attending will hear some of the “Nutcracker” story, based on E.T.A. Hoffmann’s work, and take part in a short ballet lesson.
