Located just off of Interstate 65 on the south side of Lebanon, Wisewood Farm offers several unique family experiences throughout the year. Joel and Holly Woody, the owners and operators of Wisewood, purchased 11 acres three years ago and began growing high-yield vegetables for the local farmers markets, with the goal of offering affordable, organic produce for families in the Boone County area. Continuing with their passion, they became eligible to accept WIC for their fresh produce, and will soon be SNAP approved, as well. They also have a mobile veggie wagon, which stops at different places in the Lebanon area throughout the week. You can find the Wisewood produce wagon at Donaldson\u2019s Finer Chocolates from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday, at THAT Sports Bar from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday evenings, and at Chicken Nugget and Gang on the first Thursday evening each month. Wisewood Farm also offers ways for the community to interact with the farm, including fun and family-friendly events. Here are just a few things happening on the farm! Tea Parties Guests can schedule a private tea party in the midst of the farm's wildflower patch, and enjoy a picnic with foods prepared by a professional chef. Choose from a list of finger sandwiches, fresh scones, dessert and of course, tea. After lunch, each guest can pick a small bouquet from the U-pick flower patch to take home. Families can visit for a day of fun, including hay wagon rides, animal visits, sugar cookie decorating and local vendors offering everything from apple butter to maple syrup. Though there is a donation box for those that wish to donate, the entire event is free for families. Community Partnerships The Woodys regularly invite groups to volunteer and learn more about gardening. With three young boys themselves, they\u2019ve worked with teens and given them experience and education in growing organically, planting their own garden and healthy food choices. Call ahead and schedule a volunteer session to help pull weeds, harvest vegetables or plant the next thing on the ever-growing list! For more information, visit Wisewood Farm at wisewoodfarm.com.
