Murphy Aquatic Park in Avon is set to open for its fourth season on May 24, 2025, offering a wide range of inclusive features and engaging experiences for families and individuals of all ages and abilities.
Washington Township Avon Parks and Recreation operates Murphy Aquatic Park and thoughtfully designed it to prioritize accessibility, inclusion, and a strong connection to nature. The park features a fully ADA-accessible water playground, an all-inclusive dry playground, scenic walking trails, a recreation pond, a recreational hill, and extensive native plantings that enrich both the landscape and the overall visitor experience.
In 2022, Washington Township Avon Parks and Recreation successfully brought Murphy Aquatic Park to the community after five years of hard work. 1 As the park gears up for its fourth season in 2025, let’s take a look at some exciting things to look forward to when we dive back into the fun!
Waterpark Features
Murphy Aquatic Park waterpark offers a wide range of water-based amenities designed to be inclusive and engaging:
-
A wave pool
-
Multiple water slides
-
A toddler zone
-
A large, centrally located ADA-accessible water play structure
Each water area features zero-depth entry to support guests using wheelchairs or other mobility aids. Park staff provide water wheelchairs for visitors who want to enjoy the water features. The main play structure includes wide ramps for easy navigation and multiple levels of water cannons, encouraging collaborative play. Children can access three inclusive slides from the lower deck, ensuring that everyone can participate in the fun.

Sensory Swims
Murphy Aquatic Park offers dedicated Sensory Swim sessions to provide a more peaceful, supportive environment for individuals with sensory sensitivities.
These sessions take place every Tuesday from 9:00 to 11:00 AM. During this time, the wave pool is turned off to reduce motion and sound, and capacity in the Activity Pool, Toddler Zone, and Central Play Feature is limited to 50%, creating a quieter, more relaxed atmosphere.

The merry-go-round is simple to use. It can be spun from inside or outside, and the shade protects it from too much sun.
Sensory and wheelchair swings are available. A chair zip line and slides are accessible too. The playground has wide deck spacing and a surrounding sidewalk for easy access.
