Parent’s POV: Christ Community Church Play Area

My three year old and I were delighted when our neighbors invited us to meet them at the Play Area inside Christ Community Church in Carmel. When winter is in full force, I love visiting new places where my kids can spend their energy.

The church is located at the intersection of Main Street and Gray Road. It’s just a few miles east of the Carmel Clay Public Library, so it’s easy to add on a library visit before or after play time.

The indoor play area is open to all members of the community (for free!) on Mondays and Tuesdays from 9am-12pm. Once you arrive, you’ll find a large common area where caretakers can sit, relax, or catch up on work while enjoying coffee from the complimentary coffee bar.

Inside the play area, there is a large play structure that is designated for children ages 10 and under. There is also an adorable toddler area for little ones under two. My son especially loved using the wide variety of playmats to make fun obstacle courses for everyone to enjoy.

Attendees are required to sign a liability waiver when visiting for the first time, and the church asks to limit play time to 30 minutes if it is busy. If there are more than 20 kids in the play area, you will be added to the waitlist. That said, there is plenty to do in the Commons area while you wait for your turn to play – legos, magnatiles, a train table, coloring books, and more. If there is no waitlist, you can stay as long as you like!

We highly recommend visiting this church’s indoor playground with family and friends when you need to get out of the house. It felt warm, cozy and very welcoming for all … and it’s always great to get lots of pent-up energy out during these cold, cold winter days!
