All of your favorite October activities are beginning to pop up this weekend from the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis Haunted House to Oktoberfest at Trader’s Point and more. Sprinkle in a special kids art show in downtown Indy and this Weekend Top 5 is the recipe for perfect October fun!

Bring the kids to the “Just My Height: Secret Doors” art show at Stutz

Opens October 7

Opening this Friday, the “Secret Doors” show – in partnership with Just My Height Art Shows – will be a one-of-its-kind exhibit designed to activate the young art enthusiast. All art is hung at a child-friendly level of 36,” perfect for kids to get the birds eye view they need to appreciate the works. Best news: It’s free to attend. Show runs at the Raymond James Stutz Art Gallery in downtown Indy thru October 28.

October 7

It’s the final time to chowdown at Old National Centre in downtown Indy on your choice of multiple area food trucks. But is the First Friday Food Truck Festival kid friendly, you ask? Per Insider Megan who wrote up our piece on this event, “Heck to the yes it is. There were children of all ages in attendance and they seemed to be having a great time! There are big tables for families and plenty of kid-friendly dining options.” In other words, go, feast, have fun.

 

ZooBoo officially kicks off at the Indianapolis Zoo

October 7-9 {and other future dates}

It’s back! ZooBoo returns this weekend at the Indianapolis Zoo, complete with an obstacle course named Broomstick Alley, Monster Music, Pumpkin Bowling and more. Of course all your favorite Zoo animals will be there and plenty o’ trick or treating to practice your skill on. ZooBoo takes place 4 weekends this month. Discover more here.

 

Oktoberfest on the farm at Trader’s Point Creamery

October 8

Hike up the lederhosen. It’s time for the annual Oktoberfest celebration at Trader’s Point Creamery. This traditional German fest has weaved its way into area families hearts for years and with good reason: There’s food, music and fun for everyone. Enjoy the whole hog roast, listen to music from Polka Boy, try a hayride, sample creamery products and pick your pumpkins.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year… Halloween at the Children’s Museum brings the return of the famous Haunted House. This year’s promises to delight with a Cursed Castle haunted by Burnadette, the fire-breathing dragon. Enjoy the IPL’s Lights-On Hours with kiddos who scare easily or dare to be scared with the Frightening Hours – either way, the Haunted House returns! Learn more.
