Oktoberfest at Trader’s Point Creamery

“Do you wanna go to work?”

No I don’t wanna do that!

“Do you wanna pay the bills?”

No, I don’t wanna do that!

“Do you wanna listen to some of ‘ze most beautiful music in ‘ze world?”

Yea. Yea, Yea!

Every year at Traders Point Creamery’s Oktoberfest, Polka Boy, Indy’s 13 piece polka band, riles up the crowd when it plays final show of the season.

Polka Boy caps off a wonderful family event playing three hours of traditional German music {with kids singing the introduction to “In Heaven There is No Beer”} and current pop hits, all with a polka twist.

Polka Boy!

If polka’s not your thing, there’s still PLENTY to do at Traders Point Creamery’s Oktoberfest. If you’re not familiar with Trader’s Point, it is an organic creamery on the west side of town that makes their own milks, cheeses, and yogurts. For one day every year, they turn their farm into one gigantic family-friendly Oktoberfest party.

There are too many activities to list, so I’ll just mention a few of my favorites from my many visits over the years…

  • Free hayrides around the farm.
  • Trader’s Point Creamery’s homemade chocolate ice cream is the best ice cream I’ve ever tasted.
  • Lots of different German food and beer. Remember you’ll be here for lunch and dinner so you can try all the different food and beer offerings.
  • Buying pumpkins from the pumpkin patch. ONE RULE kids…you can only pick out as big of a pumpkin as YOU can carry to the car.
  • Watching my kids wander all over the farm playing games, face painting, and participating in various art and craft projects.
Photographic evidence that the food is finger licking’ good!

I’d also be remiss not to mention word-for-word what Trader’s Point Creamery has to add to this story: “Come celebrate in the German tradition with a Whole Hog Roast and farm-inspired German food. Get in the spirit with our German Biergarten, Sun King Brewery, and Wine Tasting!” Wow.

This year, Oktoberfest takes place on Saturday, October 8th from 12-7pm.

Live music starts at noon with Airstream Betty Band playing until 3. Then Polka Boy from 4-7pm.

Don’t forget to wear your lederhosen…and bring a blanket for a place to sit.

Prost!
