First Friday Food Truck Festival is fun and family friendly

One of my most favorite things about living in the Indianapolis area is that there is always something happening around town. Concerts, ball games, art shows, grand openings, festivals… the list seems to be growing by the day.

Something I had never heard of until moving here though was a something called a food truck festival.

Seriously? All of that yummy goodness in one location? Sign me up!

Founded in 2010, the First Friday Food Truck Festival (FFFT) has become one of the most popular and signature warm-weather events in town. Located in the parking lot at the Old National Centre, FFFT has over 50 different foot trucks on site. And let me tell you – you need to come hungry.

Last month my husband and I went on a downtown excursion to check out the FFFT and what it had to offer. We had been before but we were blown away with how big it has become! Not only do they have the food trucks, there are games and activities hosted by their awesome partners AND the Indie Arts & Vintage Marketplace is there to provide an opportunity to find that unique treasure you didn’t know you needed.

But is it kid friendly, you ask? Heck to the yes it is. There were children of all ages in attendance and they seemed to be having a great time! There are big tables for families and plenty of kid-friendly dining options. The game areas seemed to be extra popular with the older kids while the younger ones loved the ice cream and pizza trucks.

The First Friday Food Truck Festival is definitely what I would consider to be one of the best things in Indy. From sandwiches to pizza to gyros to pierogis you’re sure to find something for everyone in the family. I definitely recommend checking this out if you haven’t already though. The FFFT season is almost over… be sure to mark your calendar for Friday, October 7th. It’s the last one of the year so one last tidbit – be sure to get there early!

MORE INFO: The First Friday Food Truck Festival is held on the first Friday of every month starting in June and ending in October. Hours are 5-10pm and admission is $5 {children under 5 are FREE}. Visit the Downtown Indy website for more details or find them on Facebook. Photos in this post are used with thanks and credit to the First Friday Food Truck Festival Facebook page.
