Located just under 3 hours from downtown Indy, The Nature Playscape at Wesselman Woods in Evansville, Indiana, is worth the drive and perfect outdoor adventure spot for families! Spanning five acres, this unique play area invites kids to climb, jump, dig, and discover—all in a natural setting designed to spark imagination and curiosity.
A Playground Unlike Any Other
Forget traditional plastic slides and swings—this playscape is all about organic, hands-on experiences. Kids can scramble over fallen logs, climb rock formations, and build forts using materials found in the woods. Designed to encourage unstructured play, the Nature Playscape lets children use their creativity while getting a little messy and having a whole lot of fun!

Climb High in the Arwood Family Treehouse
One of the newest and most exciting additions to the playscape is the Arwood Family Treehouse, standing 12 feet tall! Here, families can experience the forest from a whole new perspective—right at the mid-canopy level. With rope bridges, climbing ropes, ramps, and rock walls, it’s an adventure waiting to happen for both kids and adults!
A Haven for Wildlife: The Bernhardt Family Bird Sanctuary
For those who love wildlife, the Bernhardt Family Bird Sanctuary offers additional trails and play spaces that blend seamlessly into the environment. Kids can explore a redbud tree tunnel, a dry creek bed, and other nature-inspired features while getting a closer look at native birds and plants.
