Q&A with Ensemble Children’s Theatre:

What makes Ensemble Children’s Theatre unique?

Ensemble Children’s Theatre summer camps offer students ages 3-12 the opportunity to help create their own unique show! Younger students in our The Great Outdoors camp will create props, learn songs and dances, and explore what it means to be onstage! Older students will work with the instructor to select songs and campfire tales to create a unique and original showcase which they will perform at the end of camp!

What activities are offered at Ensemble Children’s Theatre?

Students will learn songs, dances, acting and improv comedy games, and create theatrical crafts and props for their end-of-week showcase.

What is the camper-to-counselor ratio?

The ratio for campers to counselor will be approximately 1:6 or 1:8.

How much time do the campers spend outside?

While we will be celebrating nature and the outdoors, our camp will be held exclusively indoors at The Cat, a theatre in Carmel, Indiana.

Does the camp provide lunch/snacks or do parents need to provide them?

An allergy-safe snack will be provided for our younger campers in The Great Outdoors camp. Campers in our Gather ‘Round the Campfire camp should pack a lunch.

What is the typical daily schedule for campers?

Camp will begin with a circle activity which will include vocal and physical warm-ups. We will then either begin a craft or theatrical design project or focus on the day’s lesson and skills, which will include acting, improv comedy, storytelling, and more. Later in the week, we will rehearse our showcase.

How old are the counselors and how are they trained?

The lead instructor is Ensemble Children’s Theatre’s founder, Elisabeth Speckman. She is in her 30s and has over ten years of experience teaching theatre and writing to students. Counselors will be aged 12+ for the younger camp and 16+ for the older session.

What accommodations are made for campers with special needs?

Please inquire about accommodations specific to your child. We will do all we can to meet your child’s needs and ensure their ability to fully participate in camp.
