Overley-Worman Park Coming to Zionsville in May

Zionsville is getting a new park! Overley-Worman Park, located just across from Starkey Nature Park in Zionsville, will be a full-featured park nestled on the banks of Eagle Creek and connected to the Big-4 Rail trail. The new park is set to open to the public on May 20, 2022, and will feature a community ribbon-cutting ceremony on that date.

Unique to traditional park layouts, much of the 53-acres at Overley-Worman Park has been left untouched, providing plenty of wooded and wetland areas to explore.

The park also has some special amenities, offering a different experience for the entire family.

Explore Nature at Overley-Worman Park

If your family enjoys nature trails, hiking and bike riding, Overley-Worman offers several options. The park entrance bridge connects with the southern portion of the newest extension of the Big-4 Rail Trail, but will also offer plenty of paved and natural trails throughout the wooded areas and along Eagle Creek, as well.

The park will also have two playgrounds for children, as well as picnic areas and shelters. In addition, Zionsville’s first 18-hole disc golf course will offer something new to the area and an afternoon of fun for everyone.

Mountain Bike Track and Trail

Overley-Worman Park will also offer a one-mile mountain bike trail. The site was previously a fill area from work sites within the city, and developers chose to embrace the unique topography for a mountain bike track. There will be challenging offshoots for seasoned bikers, but you don’t have to be a mountain bike expert. A short trail is available for those that just want to experience the thrill.

Fishing and Aquatic Programs

A large fishing pond is also another feature of the new park. Builders have installed two fishing piers, a boardwalk and some park overlooks, so visitors can take in the beautiful scenery. The Zionsville Parks Department hopes to develop nature and aquatic programs to use this natural area in the future.
