Old City Park Re-Opens in Greenwood

South Indy kids have something new to enjoy! Old City Park, one of the city’s most storied parks located in the heart of downtown Greenwood, re-opened on October 2 to the public, and has been completely re-imagined and redesigned.

First of its kind

The recreational centerpiece of Old City Park is a 20-foot cube tower, with a tunnel slide attached and lots of climbing features below. The play tower is the first of its kind in Indiana, and one of only three in the country.

Other cool features

Other features of the brand-new playground include an 18-foot wide promenade next to Pleasant Creek, seamlessly integrating into the creek’s natural landscape; a custom climbing wall and, for younger children, a custom climbing net; extensive open space for non-structured developmental play; a new pedestrian bridge, urban porch swings, bocce ball courts and more.

Old City Park has served as a central cornerstone of the city of Greenwood since the 1940s, and officials are hoping the new park will positively impact the city for years to come.
