A fall favorite is back! ZooBoo at the Indianapolis Zoo, presented by Central Indiana Honda Dealers, combines amazing animals, spooky costumes, trick-or-treating, and new oversized animal photo ops to offer spooktacular fun at every turn.
When is ZooBoo 2023?
ZooBoo returns on Wednesday, September 27, and runs every Wednesday-Sunday through October 31. The Zoo opens daily at 9 am, while ZooBoo activities run from 2-7 pm on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, and 2-9 pm on Fridays and Saturdays.

Pumpkin Town at ZooBoo
Under the Bicentennial Pavilion, guests will find the whimsical Pumpkin Town, with a ghoulish cast of characters hosting many family-friendly activities. Little witches and wizards will meet new characters like the Leeward Sisters, Terra, Wisp, and Bubbles and their wicked Aunty Guzzle as they conjure up spells and potions. Watch Professor Pumpkin perform mystifying magic tricks at the Creepy Crafts Building. ZooBoo visitors can meet the not-so-scary animals at Jack’s Barn, including Agape Therapeutic Miniature Horses. Like last year, ZooBoo has black kittens available for adoption through Indiana Animal Care Services. The Candy Corn Factory Mirror Maze makes a haunting return with thrills and smiles hidden behind every corner.

This year, ZooBoo combines fan-favorite Halloween activities such as the Elephant Pumpkin Smash and new attractions like the Scarecrow Photo Safari, a spooky guided adventure through the Forests, and the Gator Pirate Bayou, where a crew of shipwrecked pirates challenges guests to games of skill.

Kids are encouraged to wear their costumes and bring a reusable bag to collect goodies along the Trick-or-Treat Trail presented by Atterbury & IndyPendence Job Corp, now in a new, more prominent location in Plains. Seven stations will provide conservation-conscious treats with only certified sustainable palm oil. Allergy-friendly treat options are available upon request.

Adult Trick-or-Treat Trail
The Adult Trick-or-Treat Trail, presented by Zink Distributing, offers free beer sampling for guests ages 21 and older from 5-8 pm on Fridays and Saturdays outside the Simon Skjodt International Orangutan Center. Plus, craft beers and themed cocktails like the Cosmic Cosmo and the Bad Apple, presented by Hotel Tango, are available for purchase in Pumpkin Town. Sink your teeth into a new seasonal menu of ghoulish goodies like the headless horseman burger, the grave digger nachos, and boo-reo’s.
