Art in Bloom returns to Newfields for its sixth year, transforming the Indianapolis Museum of Art galleries with 50 stunning floral installations created by acclaimed designers. Each arrangement is inspired by artwork in the IMA collection. Special programming includes tours, demonstrations, workshops, and the new Flower Power Hour where families can craft their own floral creations.

Gnome Away from Home | Garfield Park Conservatory | $6/person, $14/family
Garden gnomes have gathered at Garfield Park Conservatory for a whimsical spring break display. This year’s theme is “The Beat Goes Gnome,” featuring the gnomes’ take on popular music genres. Families can explore the conservatory and try to spot all the hidden gnomes. Note the Conservatory is closed on Mondays.

xZOOberance Spring Festival | Indianapolis Zoo | Included with Admission
xZOOberance brings vibrant blooms, animals, and hands-on spring fun to the Zoo. Families can meet chickens and goats, get creative face painting, move to the beat with a live DJ, try karaoke, join animal-inspired yoga, and explore life-size animal topiaries and fun photo spots.
xZOOberance runs March 19–April 19. 

Winter on the Prairie | Conner Prairie | $10
Enjoy cozy, low-key winter fun inside the big red barn at Conner Prairie. Kids can explore an indoor playspace designed for creative, hands-on activities. Each day includes a Guided Experience at 11 a.m. with a different focus: Fridays highlight history, Saturdays focus on agriculture, and Sundays explore nature. Members receive free admission; children under 2 are free.
Winter on the Prairie continues through March 27.

Story Time on the Reservoir | FREE | Eagle Creek Park Earth Discovery Center | 10–11 a.m.
Young explorers start with a short, nature-themed story, then move through hands-on stations at their own pace. Activities change weekly and may include puppets, coloring pages, art projects, and occasional animal encounters. Best for preschool and kindergarten ages. Included with park admission.

Holliday Park Trail Run | Holliday Park | 6–9 p.m. Friday; 9 a.m.–1 p.m. Saturday
This weekend outdoor challenge kicks off Friday evening with kids activities from 6–9 p.m., followed by a 5-mile run and 3-mile hike on Saturday morning. Expect a true trail experience with scrambling, climbing, and uneven terrain. Pre-registration is required.

Hopping Down the Bunny Trail | FREE | Williams Park, Brownsburg | 9:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
Celebrate the start of spring with this trail event featuring local businesses, eggs, candy, and seasonal fun. Kids ages 2–9 can take part in an Easter egg hunt with hundreds of eggs. Hunt times are divided by age group: ages 2–3 at 9:30 a.m., ages 4–6 at 10 a.m., and ages 7–9 at 10:30 a.m.

Fishers Make-Off 2026 | FREE | Ignite Studio at Hamilton East Public Library | 9 a.m.–4 p.m.
Watch selected artists compete to create original artwork using Ignite equipment during Ignite Studio’s third annual Make-Off. Families can take part in hands-on art activities including mini collage kits, a community assemblage wall, and a layered metallic mandala project. The first 50 patrons receive free art kits.

Circle City Donut Dash 5K | Fowling Warehouse | 9 a.m.
Take on Indy’s sweetest tradition at the Circle City Donut Dash 5K. Participants can accept the Donut Challenge and eat a dozen donut holes midway through the race, or join the regular 5K run/walk. Every participant receives free donuts, coffee, a race shirt, medal, and access to the afterparty. Proceeds benefit Teachers’ Treasures.

Flower Power Hour | Newfields | 11 a.m. Saturday and Sunday
This brand-new experience at Art in Bloom invites families to work side by side with Newfields experts and floral designers to craft their own floral masterpiece inspired by the Art in Bloom installations.

Lowe’s DIY Workshop: Lawn Mower | FREE | Participating Lowe’s Stores | 10 a.m.–1 p.m.
Kids can build their own lawn mower project at this month’s free DIY workshop. Kids who attend 12 qualifying workshops can become Jr. Builders or Sr. Builders.

It’s Arlo’s birthday! Celebrate by completing a gecko craft at this drop-in event. No tickets are required.

Kids who love dogs or need extra encouragement to read can spend time with a Paws & Think therapy dog. Each child gets a 15-minute one-on-one reading session. Registration begins in person at the Kids Desk at 1:30 p.m. Best for ages 6–12.

Freetown Village Singers | FREE | Carmel Clay Public Library | 3–4 p.m.
The Freetown Village Singers present an interactive collection of traditional folk songs and Negro spirituals, preserving African American traditions and culture through storytelling and song. Registration is recommended for this free concert.
