What is the typical daily schedule?

Students may enroll in a morning session (9:00–12:00), an afternoon session (1:00–4:00), or a full-day camp (9:00–4:00). Because camps are specialized, instructors determine their own daily schedules. All camps include recess and snack time. All-day campers have lunch and recess from 12:00-1:00.

How old are the counselors and how are they trained?

The Orchard School hires junior counselors (ages 14–17) and counselors (18+). The majority of counselors are Orchard graduates or members of Orchard’s after-school programming staff. All counselors participate in a mandatory two-day training prior to the start of camp.

What accommodations are made for campers with special needs?

The Orchard School aims to support campers with a wide range of abilities. Because camps are specialized and group-based, the level of support available varies by program. Families are encouraged to reach out in advance to discuss a child’s needs so the team can determine appropriate accommodations and help ensure a successful camp experience.
