Start 2025 with the Magic of Theatre

It’s not so much a New Year’s Resolution as a promise to myself: to keep things INTERESTING in 2025. Just a couple of weeks into the New Year, I’ve already taken a ballet class, visited the Children’s Museum, auditioned for a musical, and watched a fast-paced murder mystery on stage at Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre!

Detective Hercule Poirot (Andrew Kindig), center back, warns everyone to “stop” after Mary Debenham (Madison Pullins) collapses from being shot in Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre’s production of Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Orient Express, now on stage through Feb. 9.

The production of Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Orient Express was intriguing, mysterious, and filled with hilarious moments of physical comedy. It was a perfect date night to kick off the New Year! The talented ensemble cast kept the international suspense steaming forward, even as the plot of the show had the famed train stuck in the snow with an unsolved murder causing drama on board. (My husband and I did not correctly guess “whodunnit” – neither of us saw the big plot twist coming!)

Beef & Boards presents Disneys’ The Little Mermaid from May 22 through July 13 as the Family Show of its 2025 Season.

While I hear tickets for the murder mystery are close to sold out, there are plenty of other fun shows to look forward to this season at Beef & Boards: Jersey Boys opens on Valentine’s Day featuring the music of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons (sounds like a fun night out with my mom!), Disney’s The Little Mermaid will take fans of all ages “Under the Sea” starting on May 22, and one of my favorite newer musicals, Waitress,” opens July 17, featuring delicious music and lyrics by Sara Bareilles (PG-13).

Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre presents Jersey Boys starting Valentine’s Day.

At a time of year in Indiana when the winter chill can wear you down and cabin fever sets in, it always helps me to find some FUN and different things to do. Planning a few theatre experiences for the year ahead can be a great way to jump start my creative energy. Cheers to the arts and new adventures in 2025!
