Selfie WRLD Selfie Museum

Selfie museums are a growing trend across the country, and now Indianapolis will be home to one of the newest ones! Selfie WRLD Indy (selfiewrldindy.com) opens January 8, 2022, on Indy’s northwest side, and offers lots of opportunities for visitors to create Insta-worthy photos in a fun and interactive setting.

We caught up with Nina Koehler, the owner of Selfie WRLD and former WISH-TV anchor, to find out more about this new experience.

What is Selfie WRLD?

At Selfie WRLD, you’ll find more than 30 photo installations complete with props, great lighting and changing rooms (for outfit changes, if you wish!). It’s a high-end photography studio and museum that is open to the public, where you can immerse yourself in fun, eye-catching, interactive art installations.

“I really love our ‘Out of Your League’ room, our dinner, our throne and our pall bit,” Koehler says. “But it’s hard to choose favorites. We have more than 30 photo spaces in our space! The great thing is, we will constantly be flipping our rooms depending on the season, things happening in Indiana, and to give you a new experience. While some of the favorites will be mainstays, most of our booths will change several times each year.”

And while the pictures will be incredible, Koehler says it’s the experience visitors have at the museum that makes Selfie WRLD so special. “It’s a way to laugh, bond and truly make memories,” Koehler says.

How does it work?

When you book general admission tickets to the museum, you will get access to the space for one hour. Selfie WRLD keeps capacity low to ensure you’ll have a great time during your hour. If you’re interested in renting the museum’s party room, there are options during and outside of business hours to do so, as well as options to have the entire museum to yourself during business hours.

“No matter what your visit looks like, whether it’s a 100-person team-building activity or birthday party or just a date night with you and your partner, we want to make sure you have a great experience.”

Why does Indy need Selfie WRLD?

“I decided to open Selfie WRLD in Indianapolis because I truly saw a void in our community when it came to an entertainment and party space like this,” Koehler says. “As a mom of four, I knew this was something families would love. So many of our bonding experiences revolve around food. Don’t get me wrong, I love food — but this is something totally new and different for Indiana.”

Why is Selfie WRLD a great activity for families and adults alike?

“Think about the little photo booths you used to see in malls or the Old Western picture sets in tourist towns,” Koehler says. “The picture is a memento, but it’s the experience in that photo booth or by changing into funny clothes that really touches your heart, right? Selfie WRLD is like that times 100.

“For moms, it’s a chance to cut loose, have fun, and even feel beautiful and sexy. That’s something that doesn’t happen often in our hectic lives.

“If you’d rather bring the kiddos, our space is so interactive and fun for them and they will see you being silly too! Selfie WRLD also provides a great opportunity to take fun child milestone or family pictures for a really affordable price!”
