As far as parks go, Riley Park in Greenfield checks off all the boxes for family fun. Awesome all-ages playground? Check. (And actually, there are two playgrounds: one for toddlers and young kids on one side, and one for the bigger kids on the other side.) Athletic fields and courts? Check and check. Splash pad, picnic area and paved walking trails? Check, check and check!
Riley Park is comprised of 40 acres of open, grassy areas for play. While the playground area is on one side of Brandywine Creek — which weaves its way not just through the park, but also through Shelby, Hancock and Franklin counties — there is a skate park and basketball courts a short walk away on the other side of the creek.
The playground at Riley Park includes several slides, swings, tunnels, a rock climbing wall, monkey bars and teeter totters. The playground is surfaced with wood chips for a soft and safe landing. One of the more interesting feature of the playground is the tall tire tower, which is a great (and unusual) aspect of the park that will have your little climbers clambering up and down.
Is your family up for a game of gaga ball? Well, you’re in luck at Riley Park, because there’s a gaga ball pit right next to the playground. If flying discs are more your speed, this park also has a Frisbee golf course (also known as frolf) that has you walking to targets that are spaced all around the park.
As one of Greenfield’s feature landmarks, Riley Park is a great little park with something for all families!
