Learn, Connect, and Grow: Explore Summer Programs at Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation

As the days get longer and the weather warms up, it’s the ideal time to come together as a community and enjoy all that summer has to offer. Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation (CCPR) summer programs offer more than just fun and relaxation — they’re a chance to connect with the community, try new activities, and experience the joy of summer.

CCPR offers a wide variety of program categories for participants to enjoy, including
nature, aquatics, adaptive, arts & culture, senior, and wellness. There are programs available for every age and interest, so participants of all abilities and experience levels can grow, learn, and most importantly, have fun together.

Nature Keepers: Kiddos will experience the wonders of nature in this half – week nature camp! Nature Keepers (AM) is designed for ages 5 to 7 and Nature Keepers (PM) is designed for ages 8 to 12. Each week will explore a different nature – related theme that takes kids from crafts and activities inside the classroom to an exploration of the outdoors. At the end of the week, Field Trip Fridays will take participants to a new CCPR park, where they will creek stomp, fish, or look for wildlife alongside a trained instructor.

Have a kiddo that’s too young for Nature Keepers? Try Knee High Naturalist instead! Knee High Naturalist is designed to introduce parent and child, ages 1 to 5, to the natural world through engaging crafts, stories, and short walks in Central Park.

Skateboarding 1 or 2: This program is perfect for adventurous kiddos ages 6 to 12 who want to learn how to skateboard! Participants will learn safety tips and basic techniques and skills in these group lessons. A professionally trained instructor will help them learn balance, pushing, carving and even some tricks. Skaters must provide their own skateboard and safety equipment. Helmets are required, pads recommended.

Junior Artists Series: Professional artist Zach Lowe will guide participants ages 6 to 15 on their own unique creative journey in Junior Artist Series! This series is designed to hone participants’ artistic skills through fun, hands-on activities tailored to their interests. Lowe will meet each student where they’re at in skill level and experience, working with them one-on-one to help bring their vision to life. Choose between Drawing & Sketching, Acrylic & Watercolor painting, or Clay & Mixed Medium and then choose your day of the week to attend.

Adaptive Sensory-Friendly Swim: The Waterpark can be overwhelming and overstimulating, but there’s a way to avoid the large crowds and loud noises. Adaptive Sensory-Friendly Swims provide individuals with disabilities and their families with a fun evening at The Waterpark free of distraction. The music will be off, and the concession
stand will be closed, so participants can focus solely on enjoying The Waterpark. The main activity pool, slides and lazy river will be open for families to swim, play and interact with others. The cost is $22 per family. Pre-registration is required. Only one person needs to be registered per family.
