Farmer’s Pike Festival | Sept. 4–7 | The Gloryland Lighthouse Chapel, New Castle | $5, kids 12 and under free
More than 400 vendor spaces fill the grounds at Farmer’s Pike Festival, with antiques, collectibles, crafts, clothing, toys, plants and plenty of food. Live entertainment includes gospel, bluegrass and country music. Parking and shuttle service to the gate are free.
Stuckey Farm Sunflower Festival | Sept. 5–7 | Stuckey Farm Orchard and Cider Mill, Sheridan | $16.50 online, $18.50 at the gate, ages 2 and younger free
Stuckey Farm opens its 7-acre sunflower field with more than 165,000 blooms for the first weekend of its Sunflower Festival. Admission includes one U-cut sunflower and three zinnia stems while supplies last, plus access to Adventure Acres. Apples, cider, donuts and other farm-market staples will also be available.
Fishers Blues Fest | Sept. 5–6 | Nickel Plate District Amphitheater | 5–10 p.m. nightly | FREE
Fishers Blues Fest brings two evenings of live blues music to downtown Fishers, with four performances scheduled each night. Saturday’s lineup includes Judith Hill and Dylan Triplett, while Sunday’s performers include Jontavious Willis and The Blues Brothers Triumphant Tribute. Bring chairs, blankets or a cooler, but leave outside alcohol at home.
Symphony on the Prairie: Free Fallin + The Phil Collins Experience | Sept. 4–5 | Conner Prairie | 8 p.m. | Tickets required
Two of Symphony on the Prairie’s Labor Day weekend concerts take families back through a couple of very recognizable songbooks. Free Fallin: The Tom Petty Concert Experience performs Friday night, followed by The Phil Collins Experience on Saturday. Gates open at 6 p.m., and families may bring their own food, drinks, blankets and lawn chairs.
Garfield Park Bonsai Show | Sept. 5–6 | Garfield Park Conservatory | Saturday 10 a.m.–5 p.m., Sunday 1–5 p.m. | $7 per person, $15 per family
The Indianapolis Bonsai Club fills the Conservatory with bonsai specimens representing a variety of styles, including trees that have appeared in regional and national exhibitions. Club members will be available to answer questions, and vendors will have bonsai trees and supplies for sale.
Labor Day Fun at the Farm | Sept. 5 & 7 | Tuttle Orchards, Greenfield | 9 a.m.–6 p.m. | $10, age 1 and younger free
Tuttle Orchards is open Saturday and Labor Day Monday for apple picking, flower cutting, seasonal food and play in the FarmYard. The FarmYard includes a corn pit, wagon ride, corn maze and outdoor games, while Flower Days adds a cut-flower area with more than 10,000 plants. Apple bags and flower packages cost extra. The farm is closed Sunday.

Kids can show up in pajamas with a favorite teddy bear and blanket for an evening of songs and animal-themed stories led by a music educator from Moriah Music. The program is designed for families with children ages 1 to 7.
Saturday, Sept. 5
Kids Markets at the Cicero Farmers Market | Cicero Community Park | 8:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. | FREE
Young entrepreneurs take over part of the Cicero Farmers Market, selling items they have made and running their own mini businesses. Shopping the Kids Market is free. Kids who want to participate as vendors must register in advance for $25, with registration scheduled to close at 8 p.m. Sept. 4 or when spaces fill.
Home Depot In-Store Kids Workshop | Participating Home Depot locations | 9 a.m.–noon | FREE
Home Depot hosts its monthly hands-on Kids Workshop at participating stores. Projects and supplies are available while supplies last, so this is one of those mornings when earlier is probably better than 11:55.
Wasson Nursery Free Kids Workshop: Beaded Plant | Wasson Nursery, Fishers | 10 a.m. | FREE
Kids can make a colorful beaded plant in a small decorative pot to take home. The activity is recommended for ages 6 to 13 because it uses small beads and materials that may pose a choking hazard. No registration is required, but supplies are first come, first served and children must have an adult with them.
Indy Labor Fest | Morris Bicentennial Plaza | noon–6 p.m. | FREE
Indy LaborFest takes over Morris Bicentennial Plaza with live music, food trucks, drinks and family activities. The free Kids Zone has activities for both younger and older children, while families can also learn about careers in union trades and organizations connected to the local labor movement.
Mallow Run Winery Picnic Concert Series: That 90s’ Band | Mallow Run Winery, Bargersville | noon–9 p.m. | FREE
Mallow Run’s Saturday picnic concert series heads straight back to the ’90s for Labor Day weekend with That 90s’ Band. Families can bring blankets or lawn chairs for the outdoor concert, and food trucks are scheduled for many dates. Wine is available for purchase, but outside beer and non-Mallow Run alcohol are not permitted.
Monday, Sept. 7
Half-Price Admission Day | WonderLab Museum, Bloomington | 9 a.m.–5 p.m. | Half-price admission
WonderLab is open on Labor Day with half-price museum admission, giving families a cheaper day to explore its hands-on science exhibits. Donation boxes for canned food and nonperishable items benefiting Pantry 279 will also be available at the front desk. WonderLab’s own calendar also lists half-price admission on Saturday, Sept. 5.
