Indy’s Mystery Café Puts You in the Detective’s Seat

It can be a challenge to take the kids to the theater. Will they sit still? Will they pay attention? Will they have fun? At the Mystery Café on the westside of Indianapolis, all of those questions are taken care of!

The shows at Mystery Cafe are interactive and unexpected, and they give any willing participant a part to play, so that the audience becomes a part of the production.

How it Works

Purchase a ticket at www.themysterycafeindy.com. Adult tickets are $65, which include a dinner of your choice of penne pasta primavera, chicken marsala or maple bourbon pork chop. (A 12 oz. ribeye is also available for an additional fee.) Each guest will receive a house salad or soup – all provided by Indy’s Library Restaurant. Kids are $25 per ticket for age 13 and younger. If you have a young child that won’t require a meal, no ticket is needed.

On With the Show

The show varies throughout the year and depends heavily on audience participation, but no one is forced to play if they don’t want to. When you walk in, you’re asked if you care to volunteer for a part. If so, you’ll be handed a cue card to read when it’s your turn. There’s a spot for everyone — kids included!

Up Next

“Murder in Elf Land” will be on stage on January 15 and 29, 2022. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the show starts at 6:30 p.m. Set in Santa’s workshop, follow a newly graduated Elf named Gumdrop through a tour of the workshop. During the tour, an Elf drops dead and Gumdrop is locked up for murder. Investigate the crime scene and attend Elf Land Court where Gumdrop will learn his fate.

Shows throughout the years include a Roaring Twenties theme, Hawaiian theme, Gangster drama and much more. All shows are family friendly, with no nudity or profanity.

The Mystery Café is located inside the Library Restaurant at 2610 S. Lynhurst Dr., Indianapolis.
