As families gear up for another exciting school year, the Indianapolis School of Ballet (ISB) is opening its doors to help local children discover the joy of movement. Known as Indy’s premier destination for classical dance instruction, ISB offers a nurturing, world-class environment where kids can build confidence, coordination, and lifelong friendships. Whether your child is taking their very first steps inside a dance studio or dreaming of performing under the big stage lights, the upcoming 2026/27 school year is the perfect time to start their dance journey.
For our youngest dancers, the Young Children’s Program (Ages 3–7) provides a playful, high-energy introduction to the art form. Toddlers and caregivers can bond together in Dance With Me (Age 3), while little ones in Creative Movement (Ages 4–5) and Pre-Ballet (Ages 6–7) explore music and motor skills through classes that wonderfully blend foundational ballet with high-spirited tap dancing. It is an incredibly welcoming, low-pressure space designed to turn active play into artistic passion.
As dancers turn 8 and older, they smoothly transition into the Pre-Professional Program. Beginning with the Primary Division (Levels 1–4), students receive structured training designed to refine their alignment, strength, and classical technique. Alongside dedicated ballet training, older students can also dip their toes into exciting electives like jazz and contemporary dance, ensuring they grow into well-rounded artists.
The best part? You don’t have to guess if your child will love it before signing up. Indianapolis School of Ballet warmly welcomes all new youth students (ages 3–18) to try their very first class entirely for free! From August through January, families can easily schedule a complimentary placement or trial class to experience the school’s supportive, expert faculty firsthand.
