What makes Indiana Ballet Conservatory unique?
IBC’s Fairytale Days gives serious young students the same well-rounded ballet education that is offered in our Summer Intensive for older students, with consideration for the age-appropriate time and class content for ages 3-5. The Fairytale Days allows students to experience their own “mini-intensive” while receiving in-depth training in Ballet Technique and Conditioning.
IBC’s Young Dancers’ Intensive (YDI) gives serious young students the same well-rounded dance education that is offered in our Summer Intensive for older students, with consideration for the age-appropriate time and class content for ages 6+. YDI allows students to experience their own “mini-intensive” while receiving in-depth training in Ballet Technique, Pre-Pointe, and Conditioning.

In addition, students spend time learning original choreography or pieces within IBC’s repertoire, providing the opportunity to learn and familiarize themselves with various styles of dance. This highly anticipated program has become an important cornerstone of the IBC summer experience and also provides a wonderful introduction for new students to the training and teaching style at IBC.
Special seminars may include nutrition, costume history, injury prevention, and stage makeup. Multiple mini intensives are encouraged in order to build upon technical elements and repertoire.
IBC’s Summer Intensive is a comprehensive five-week program designed to give serious students a well-rounded dance education and exposure to the Vaganova-based curriculum. Taught by our world-class instructors in a professional atmosphere, the IBCSI will allow students to experience the training that has consistently won awards and recognition in the ballet world.
With over 30 hours per week of training and focused attention on individual needs, IBCSI provides each student a greater opportunity to grow and improve. Students receive the highest level of training by our esteemed Faculty.

What is the camper-to-counselor ratio?
Depending on the size of the program, we will not exceed 15 students per instructor on site.
How much time do the campers spend outside?
Depending on the program, students will do conditioning training outside when weather permits amounting to at least an hour though primarily time is spent in the studio.

What is the typical daily schedule for campers?
Fairy Tale Day
9am-12pm several breaks built in for snacks as well.
Young Dancer Intensive

Pre-Professional Intensive
9am-5pm Intense schedule to nearly simulate a company schedule. Hour long Lunch Break and shorter breaks built in outside of class and rehearsal.
How old are the counselors and how are they trained?
Ages vary but all faculty are background checked and all have substantial professional experience in their fields. Indiana Ballet Conservatory was ranked #3 in the nation for alumni outcomes in placement with professional companies. Our faculty is world class.

What accommodations are made for campers with special needs?
We will handle special needs on a case by case basis. We do not always have the capabilities for every special need however we do believe all are welcome in the art form and we will go to great lengths to meet special needs as they come.
