Harry Potter Drone Show Coming to Indianapolis in 2026

Indianapolis families who know exactly which house everyone belongs in have a new fall event to watch: DroneArt Show: Harry Potter™ is scheduled for Sept. 25 and 26 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.

The outdoor show uses more than 1,200 synchronized drones to recreate moments from the Harry Potter films in the night sky, set to music from the film soundtracks. The show also includes LED wristbands for guests, a live electric violinist, themed food and drinks for purchase and Harry Potter-themed merchandise.

The show is open to all ages, which makes this one of the more family-friendly fan events coming through Indianapolis this year. Kids under 3 can attend for free, according to the ticketing page. Tickets are being sold through Fever, and the public sale is listed for Wednesday, June 10 at 10 a.m.

What Families Will See at DroneArt Show: Harry Potter

The main event is the drone show itself, with 1,200 illuminated drones moving together above the fairgrounds. The show is designed around well-known characters and moments from the Harry Potter films, with formations timed to music from the original soundtracks.

The event page lists the run time as 60 minutes, including an intermission. Doors open at 6:15 p.m., and the show starts at 8:15 p.m. Late entry may not be permitted, so this is not the night to test how fast everyone can find shoes, water bottles and the one missing wand on the way out the door.

Food, Merchandise and Seating

Food and beverages will be available for purchase on site. The event page notes that outside food and drinks are not allowed, so families should plan accordingly if younger kids usually need a snack backup.

Harry Potter-themed merchandise will also be available, including items such as wands, scarves and collectibles. The event is seated, with chairs or bleacher seats available for all ticket categories.

Because the show takes place outdoors at night, the organizers recommend dressing in layers and bringing a blanket or jacket. High heels are not permitted on the field, and comfortable shoes are required.

A Few Rules Worth Knowing

The Indiana State Fairgrounds venue is ADA compliant, and restrooms will be available on site. The FAQ notes that the event space is not accessible for prams or strollers, and strollers will not be allowed into the venue.

Paid parking will be available on site. Bags will be searched before entry, and prohibited items include weapons, outside alcohol, smoking and recreational drones. Pets are not allowed, but service animals are welcome.

The event is weather-dependent. If the show cannot be held because of weather, guests will be notified by email through the address connected to their Fever account.
