Daleville Town Hall Park & Playground

Daleville, Indiana — located about an hour northeast of Indianapolis, between Anderson and Muncie — is a small town of around 1,600 people, but it has one of the coolest parks and splash pads in central Indiana. Daleville Town Hall Park is an amazingly fun space for families, with a large playground, a fantastic splash pad, a snack bar that sells snow cones in the summer, a train to play on, an amphitheater, a dog park, and more.

Playground for Young Children

The playground is dynamic, with play areas that are designed to naturally fold into the existing landscaping. The playground is separated into an area for young kids under 5, and then an area for older kids. The toddler/younger kid area has pint-sized playground equipment, swings, a huge cement slide, a merry-go-round, a teeter-totter and lots of space to run around.

Playground for Older Kids

The section of the playground for older kids is the perfect place to play hide and seek. There are just so many nooks and hiding places in the gigantic playground structure! There are bridges, ropes to climb, slides, stairs, rocks — it’s a great place for active kids to expend some energy. Both of the playgrounds are outfitted with Astroturf, so the ground is nice and soft.

Daleville Town Hall Park’s Splash Pad

The splash pad, which opens for the season after Memorial Day, is one of the largest in the state of Indiana. The splash pad features multiple spray jets, hoop sprinklers and a giant bucket that dumps water when it becomes full.

Snack Bar and Amphitheater

The splash pad is right next to a snack bar, which sells kid-friendly snack bar food — think hot dogs, nachos and Uncrustables —  as well as snow cones with dozens of syrup flavors. There are tables all around the splash pad, so you can pick a table and watch your kid play in the water. And best of all: There are big umbrellas around the splash pad, so there’s shade!

The snack bar also sells bags of ice, which come in handy if you’re visiting the park during one of their summer concerts and need to keep your packed food cold. There’s an amphitheatre located adjacent to the playground, where outdoor concerts and movies are shown in the summer. It’s a great area to take a seat in the wide-open, grassy field and enjoy some entertainment.

Play Train

Off to the side is a big shaded atrium with picnic tables, so there are plenty of places to sit. In this area of the park, you’ll find a little wooden train. Kids can climb in and pretend they’re train conductors and passengers. And if you’re lucky and at Daleville Town Hall Park at the right time, you might even see a real train come by, as the park is located close to the train tracks.

Dog Park at Daleville Town Hall Park

Visitors are encouraged to bring their leashed dogs to play at the dog park, which is fenced and includes lots of dog agility equipment. The dog park is dedicated to local police dog K9 Nugent.

This park is a short three-minute walk to Dunn-Right, which sells great loose meat sandwiches, hot dogs and ice cream. Daleville Town Hall Park is a great park for families, and you can really stay in this area of Daleville and have fun for hours!
