Riverside Regional Park, located on the near west side of Indianapolis, is one of the city’s biggest parks. And now, it’s getting a makeover! Construction has begun on Riverside Adventure Park, which will be situated on the northern part of Riverside Regional Park. The almost-900 acre park will receive many improvements, beginning in November 2023.
Riverside Adventure Park: Fun for Everyone
When completed, Riverside Adventure Park will transform the northern end of Riverside Regional Park into a unique greenspace with trails, pavilions, plazas, playgrounds and more. The project is expected to be finished in late 2024.
The northern section of the park will have increased parking, along with a plaza and restrooms near the nature zone playground and shelter.
The middle of the park will include new trails, as well as a fitness loop, more parking, more restrooms and more picnic shelters.
Big Plans for Riverside Park
The park’s master plan has been a work in progress since 2017. The development of Riverside Regional Park is expected to take place over the next 20 years, including the creation of Riverside Adventure Park.
The boundaries of the project are 38th Street to the north, 18th Street to the south, Riverside Drive to the east and Cold Spring Road to the west.
Riverside Regional Park is located at 3702 N. White River Pkwy Dr W. in Indianapolis.
