Bishop Chatard camps are run by BCHS award-winning teachers, world-class coaches and student athletes and volunteers, giving campers a unique opportunity to learn from some of our best and brightest Trojans. The majority of camps take place on our campus and in our classrooms, giving participants the chance to see what the Bishop Chatard community is like, all while having fun and learning in the summer!
What activities are offered at Bishop Chatard High School Summer Camps?
Bishop Chatard offers 13 different athletic camps (ranging from football and wrestling to lacrosse, softball, cheer and basketball) as well as 13 different enrichment camps. We have camps that focus on painting, sculpture, arts and crafts, cooking and baking, science (robotics and beginning coding), games (chess and board games), theater (musical theater and acting and improv), and even an outdoor adventure camp and a service camp!
What is the camper-to-counselor ratio?
This depends on the camp, but our ratio is typically 10:1.
How much time do the campers spend outside?
Most camps do spend a the bulk of their day outside. However, camps in court sports (volleyball, basketball, cheerleading), some studio art camps (sculpture) and some science camps (robotics, coding) and are indoors in the art rooms or computer/robotics labs, with breaks for snacks and other break time outdoors.
Does Bishop Chatard High School Summer Camps provide lunch/snacks or do parents need to provide them?
We provide snacks for all enrichment campers. Campers who stay for multiple sessions will have time to break for lunch. These lunches are not provided by Bishop Chatard (parents and guardians need to send packed lunches). We do offer concessions during every camp session with snacks, popsicles, drinks and light lunch items.
What is the typical daily schedule for campers?
Bishop Chatard’s morning camps typically run from 9 a.m. – noon, while afternoon camps run from 12:30 – 3:30 p.m. Some of our athletic camps are shortened to 1.5 hours, and we offer speed and agility clinics to pair up with shortened athletic camps to extend our campers’ days.

How old are the counselors and how are they trained?
Our camp directors are either Bishop Chatard teachers and staff or Bishop Chatard coaches, who are all trained and certified to work with students and athletes. We also have our own student athletes and student volunteers who work with our campers, and this is something that our students look forward to every summer. These students are trained and supervised by our teachers, coaches and our Camp Director.
What accommodations are made for campers with special needs?
This depends on an individual camper’s needs, but we are always willing to work with families and and do ask that parents and guardians let us know if there are any special circumstances that we should be aware of.
