Butler Theatre’s production of The SpongeBob Musical opening this November is brought to you by a talented crew including Butler University alumna Suzanne Fleenor at the helm.
Based on the beloved animated series, The SpongeBob Musical, tells the story of friendship, cooperation and unity when Bikini Bottom faces the threat of destruction from a volcano. This high-energy, positive, family-friendly show truly has something for everyone to enjoy. The musical features an incredible score of original songs by artists such as Cyndi Lauper, David Bowie, John Legend, Plain White T’s, Panic! At The Disco, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Sara Bareilles, and more!

Just as the characters in the story band together with a common goal, Jordan College of the Arts students, faculty, and several Butler alumni have come aboard to bring this explosion of joy and color to the Indianapolis community!
Butler students majoring in Arts Administration, Communications, Dance, Education, Music, Psychology, Sociology and Theatre auditioned for the cast, crew and pit orchestra in August. Butler’s beloved mascot, Blue IV, auditioned for the lead role as well, but unfortunately was not cast. Don’t give up on your dreams, Blue!
Join SpongeBob, Patrick, Squidward, Sheldon J. Plankton, Mr. Krabs and a host of other lively characters November 12-16, 2025, at Butler University’s Schrott Center for the Arts!
