Cool Creek Nature Center
Cool Creek Park is home to the Cool Creek Nature Center, where families, school groups, and nature lovers can explore the science of Indiana woodlands, learn about the importance of preserving plants and animals in their natural habitats and enjoy a variety of recreational activities. The nature center is open Monday thru Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Every nook and cranny is filled with fun tidbits about Indiana’s woodlands. Kids will especially enjoy the live turtles and snakes at the aquarium. We ventured outside to the greenhouse. Chumley, the resident turtle, was just waiting for visitors. He seemed to enjoy the company.
Cool Creek Nature Play Area
The new Nature Play Area includes natural elements in a wooded and shady area and is designed to encourage unstructured play in a natural setting. The goal of this design is to get children to use their imaginations, as well as gain a greater appreciation for the outdoors.
The nature play area is open during regular park hours and can be found by following the signs along the road in front of the Cool Creek Nature Center.
