Donut Day 

Friday, June 2, 6:00 am- 10:00 am
Location: Monument Circle 

National Donut Day is Friday, June 2, and we’re celebrating with another Donut Day competition! Think you know which donut is the best donut in Indy? We’re crowning a winner! WIBC will be broadcasting the competition live from 6-10 am in front of Emmis Communications on Monument Circle in Indianapolis! Stop by to see local celebrity judges, our very own Tony Katz, and of course, get free donuts from The Salvation Army!

 

Family Learn to Fish

Saturday, June 3, 9:00 am- Noon
Location: Monon Community Center
Have you been looking for a new outdoor activity to do as a family? You’ll learn a little fish biology, gain some basic fishing skills, and finally, apply what you’ve learned along the Central Park Lagoon. No fishing license required on the day of the class is a Free Fishing Day! All supplies provided. Each family member needs to register, and each child must be accompanied by an adult. Please meet in the Party Rooms in the West Building of the Monon Community Center.

Community Day 2017

Saturday, June 3, 10:00 am- 3:00 pm
Location: Tom Wood Aviation 
Have you been looking for a new outdoor activity to do as a family? You’ll learn a little fish biology, gain some basic fishing skills, and finally, apply what you’ve learned along the Central Park Lagoon. Strawberry Festival 

Saturday, June 3, 11:00 am- 4:00 pm
Location: Tuttle Orchards
Get your Indiana strawberries to take home.  Free strawberry jam making class. Samples lots of strawberry products in the Farm Store. Specials on strawberry items in the Farm Store Cookie Decorating for Kids, Kid’s Craft,  Strawberry Storytime with Helen. Admission is free but some activities do cost $2.50. Canal Nights (Game Night!) 

Wednesday, June 7, 6:00- 8:00 pm
Location: Indiana State Museum
Free activities and family fun are on the menu for Wednesday nights at the Indiana State Museum. Join us from 6 to 8 p.m. on the canal side of the museum for games, art, science and fun! Express your artistic side by painting on our community mural, exercise your competitive side on game night or discover the science of bubbles through wacky water experiments. Each Wednesday offers a different kind of hands-on experience!

Westfield Touch a Truck 

Friday, June 8, 10:00 am- 12:00 pm
Location: Westfield High School 
Our Touch-A-Truck event provides your little one the opportunity to climb up into the driver’s seat, honk the horn, and experience all the exciting things transportation vehicles can do! At touch a truck, you might see a semi, dump truck, fire engine, horse and buggy, a canoe and MORE! The final list of all vehicles will be posted on our “Who is Coming” page! The first 250 children will receive a FREE hard hat that can be decorated at an on-site decorating station!

Location: Hotel Broad Ripple
It’s summertime, which means warm nights, cold drinks and good company. Come get cozy on the lawn chairs & tables often fill up quickly, but we encourage you to bring lawn chairs and picnic blankets for prime seating during the projector screen feature.

The Ford Outdoor Experience 

Saturday & Sunday June 10-11, 10:00 am- 6:00 pm
Location: Fort Harrison State Park, Indianapolis
The Ford Hoosier Outdoor Experience is Indiana’s largest, interactive outdoor recreation event. Foam Party

Nature Play Day! Get Outside!

Summer is here! Time to get out and play! Hamilton County Parks is supporting the Indiana Children and Nature Network’s efforts to get kids outside by hosting Nature Play Days in several of our parks the week of June 11. Bring your kids to explore the parks, play on the playgrounds, and watch for wildlife. Bring a lunch if you like. Our staff will bring bubbles and other easy outdoor activities. Make It/ Take it: Thanks Dad!

Location: Noblesville Library 
Come to the library to make a free Father’s Day gift for your favorite dad: your dad, uncle, brother, son, best friend or even you! You will sand an 18″ by 6″ unfinished wooden plaque, paint and glue on wooden letters that spell out “DAD,” then add a red wooden heart and a photo that you will bring from home. The photo (of the recipient) that you bring from home must be able to fit into a 5 7/8″ by 3 3/4″ clear PVC photo holder or be able to be trimmed to fit into this size holder. Register now!

Searching for Butterflies and Bugs

There are far more life and diversity around us than we often notice. Join us for a hike that focuses on taking the time to find, photograph, and identify the insects in the woods and prairies of our park. Our staff will help you identify the insects as best we can and give you information on sources for citizen science and sharing. Be sure to bring your phone or camera!

Where can you find 7 giant inflatable water slides, great music and a fun time? At Monsoon Madness, of course! Bring your swimsuits, towel, and sunscreen as you slip and slide under the sun. There’s even an Itty Bitty Water Play Zone for children 4 and under! Enjoy pizza, Kona Ice and music from our DJ. No registration is required, but parent supervision is at this rain or shine event.

Juneteenth

Celebrate Juneteenth at the Eiteljorg with music, performances, demonstrations, food and fun for the entire family. Juneteenth, or Freedom Day, is a holiday commemorating the announcement of the abolition of slavery in Texas in June 1865 and offering FREE admission.

Familia Fest

Location: Military Park 
This festival is the city’s largest recurring Hispanic-cultural event. Enjoy a day full of Latin foods, music, a beer garden and family fun. The festival features a kid’s area with games, arts and crafts, bounce houses and pony rides.

Sensory Movie Night (Families)- Zootopia

Monday, June 19, 6:30- 8:30 pm
Location: Noblesville Library 
Stand up, dance, sing, shout or walk around during this special movie time for everyone. The lights will be turned up slightly and the sound will be turned down slightly. Relax and enjoy a movie on our big screen with your family without worrying about disturbing someone by noise or movement.  Free popcorn but bring your snacks if you’d like.

Summer Solstice Celebration

Wednesday, June 21, 7:00- 10:00 pm
Location: Strawtown Koteewi Park
Join Taylor Center staff for an evening of sidewalk chalk art, a naturalist-led night hike, summer inspired games and crafts, and a lemonade bar! We will top the night off with a bonfire (and marshmallows), so don’t forget your drum and a chair! The hike begins at 8 pm at Taylor Center of Natural History. Sunset is at 9:16 pm. Pre-registration is not required

Fishers Freedom Festival 

Saturday, June 24-25
Location: Roy Holland Memorial Park 
The Fishers Freedom Festival offers multiple activities, events, and food for all ages.  Held at the Roy Holland Park (1 Park Drive) just off Holland Drive & Ellipse Parkway in Fishers, this free event offers fine arts & crafts, food & business vendors, live music, 5K event, children’s tent, parades, street dance, fireworks and much more.  We entertain over 50,000 attendees from all over the U.S. each year. the Festival encourages participants to donate canned foods, baby food, nonperishable goods, disposable diapers, cleaning supplies, school supplies and/or toiletries, new toys, games, books, and puzzles. Items will go to local pantries that service Fishers as well as the Festival’s “Roy G. Holland Backpacks for Kids” program.

Family Concert presented by Indianapolis Early Music

Indianapolis Early Music continues its tradition of a FREE family concert. This year the Peabody Consort will provide a morning of fun for the entire family. Not familiar with Early Music? You will see, hear, and (possibly) touch some of the unique instruments used by the musicians.

Silly Safaris Animal Shows

Location: Southport Branch Library 
Children and families are invited to join Silly Safaris to learn about animals during this 45-minute show featuring live animals! Animal programs are made possible by Mary Frances Rubly and Friends of the Library through gifts to The Indianapolis Public Library Foundation.
