Swoony swoon. As in Yelp Indy returns this month at IndysChild.com with something for parents: Oodles of the top ways to do date nights in Speedway. Date night with our significant other, our friends or even just ourselves. So moms and dads, start your engines!
The month of May in Indiana can only mean one {okay three!} things: Race cars, checkered flags, and “Back Home Again in Indiana.” But when is the last time you found yourself in Speedway? It’s so much more than a day in May, and we’re here to show you why you should treat yourself to a night out in Speedway.
Speedway Indoor Karting
IndyCar driver Sarah Fisher opened up SIK so you can channel your inner speed demon. Take your kart on a spin through a two-level road course and a mini superspeedway, appropriate for all skill levels. Yelper James B. gave his experience five stars, saying it’s “world class in every way.” We won’t blame your kids if they get jealous of your racing adventures. They can tag along if they’re at least 8 years old and 48” tall.
Daredevil Brewing
We “dare” you to try this place and not like it. You can enjoy Daredevil beers statewide, but the taproom is in the heart of Speedway. Visit to experience a state-of-the-art craft brewery, quality lab, and a large outside patio and lawn area with a stage for live music. Don’t forget to munch on local small plates, including a soup of the day, cheese and meat board, and more. As Yelper Leslie L. says, “This brewery continues to impress. Now that the taproom is open, I feel the sky is the limit for them.”
Foyt Wine Vault
That would be Foyt, as in IndyCar racing legend A.J. Foyt. The wine vault pays homage to his career through memorabilia and racing decor throughout the wine vault, including one of his own IndyCars. Enjoy the vino from Napa and Sonoma in the tasting room – and don’t forget to pair it with a charcuterie and cheese board. Yelper Ashley P. says, “Holy heck, was it delicious. Between the pickles, the cranberry sauce and all the delicious cheeses, I was in heaven.”

Big Woods Brewing Co.
Opening Monday, May 9!
Big Woods is the highly-anticipated sister gastropub to the original, located in Nashville, IN. It’s known for its series of Quaff ON! craft brews, like the Busted Knuckle and Six Foot Blonde. On the food front, Big Woods has customers coming back for the pork BBQ nachos and pulled pork sliders – not to mention the Triple B burger, winner of the James Beard National Better Burger Contest. NBD. Take the kids back with you another time – Big Woods will have kid-friendly and adult only areas.
Barbecue and Bourbon
But really, is there a better combination? Get a taste of the south in Speedway at Barbecue and Bourbon. This is the place for wood-smoked barbecue, craft whiskey, and live music. Yelpers recommend the pulled pork, beef brisket, and ribs. Yelper Allison F. loves this family-owned business, saying “The owners are two of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. It’s places like this that are bringing Speedway back to life!”
