Back in 1998, long-time Doctor Who fan Keith Bradbury had a problem — it was very difficult to find Doctor Who merchandise in the United States. Doctor Who is a British science fiction television series, making it difficult to find merchandise and memorabilia in the States.
So, Bradbury took matters into his own hands and founded Who North America, a shop filled with reasonably priced Doctor Who products. The shop, located in Camby, Indiana, is one of the largest sources of Doctor Who products in North America, including collectibles, accessories, posters, calendars, miniatures, action figures, toys, games and more.
Doctor Who launched its first episode back on November 23, 1963, and started to gain a following of United States fans in the 70s. The show originally ran from 1963 to 1989, and was then re-launched in 2005.
In addition to Doctor Who, Who North America sells merchandise for The Avengers, Dark Shadows, Dorian Gray, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, Red Dwarf, Sherlock Holmes, Sarah Jane Smith and more.
Aside from their shop, which ships across the country, Who North America has The Museum of Merchandise, which features products from the shows beginning all the way up to present day.
As for The Museum of Merchandise, it has 50 years worth of Doctor Who products that have rarely been seen by United States-based fans. The museum is free to those who visit the shop.
Museum visitors can expect to see a full-size “Lady Cassandra” overhead and the biggest Dalek cookie jar in America. Additionally, Who North America has a game and arcade room, featuring a Doctor Who pinball machine and Voyager arcade game, both of which are free to play.
