Weekend Scoop Oct 9-11: Lots of family fun opens in Indy

Halloween might still be a few weeks away, but the excitement of its arrival has taken over Indianapolis. Here’s the quick scoop on some high-ticket fun opening THIS weekend in the greater Indy area {we’ll have more details soon – our teams will hit the streets to check them out for you!}:
1. Children’s Museum “Pirates Revenge” Haunted House

The Children’s Museum Guild’s 52nd Annual Haunted House opens October 10.

 

It’s coming: The Children’s Museum Guild’s 52nd Annual Haunted House. Opening Saturday, 10/10 this year’s fright is courtesy of Captain Crossbones, a pirate on a journey to No Rules Island in search of lost treasure.  Stay tuned for sneak preview pics from us. {In the meantime, here’s the one image The Children’s Museum has released so far.}

2. Peewinkle’s Haunted Puppet Studio

One of the hidden gems for family fun in Indy: Witch Gertrude {played by co-owner Heidi Shackleford} returns to Peewinkle’s Puppet Studio for not-so-spooky-but-totally-Halloween-themed fun. Kids enjoy the playful atmosphere; parents enjoy the intimate space.

3. Conner Scairie and the Headless Horseman

The headless horseman catches up to the Conner Scairie hayride.

The Headless Horseman rides again on the grounds of Conner Prairie during the annual Conner Scairie fun. Visitors will get spooked by their haunted surroundings filled with ghouls and mad scientists, enjoy nightly marionette shows or make a stop at the Apple Store. Read more.

What else?

– Don’t forget the Indianapolis Zoo “ZooBoo” has opened with tons of fun activities for the family to enjoy. Runs through 10/25.

– Trader’s Point Creamery celebrates their annual Oktoberfest with pumpkin picking, hayrides, a petting zoo and more.

– The Butler High Ropes course returns Friday {10/9} from 2-6pm with lots of high-wire fun. {Thanks to reader Elizabeth for the reminder!}
