Washington Park, located on the near east side of Indy, is new and improved! Completed in August 2025, this Indianapolis park has received a huge upgrade, and now has a brand-new playground and splash pad in the center of the park, as well as new picnic shelters, a huge parking lot and a comfort station.
Washington Park Playground
The new playground at Washington Park includes a state-of-the-art playground for kids ages 5 to 12 years old, which includes:
- rope climbing elements
- concrete animals
- slides
- swings, including swings with accessible seating
- musical instruments
There is also a separate playground for toddlers, with pint-sized swings, a slide and other climbable features.
Washington Park Splash Pad
The splash pad at Washington Park includes many spray features, as well as a mini water slide for kids.
This splash pad is one of only two on the near east side of Indianapolis. The other splash pad is at Wes Montgomery Park on 34th Street and Hawthorne Lane.

With more than 120 acres on the near east side of Indianapolis, Washington Park has a large amount of green space and many amenities including a family recreation center, an outdoor basketball complex, walking trails, playgrounds, an 18-hole disk golf course, and a mountain bike course programmed in partnership with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
