The Pokemon Go Alternative

Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock (which with this election season, who could blame you), you’ve probably heard about Pokemon Go. If you’re unsure what it’s all about, fellow Indy’s Child contributor Shelly Bergman wrote this article explaining it all. Maybe you’re like me and trying to figure out how people get enjoyment from playing this game and you’d rather do something else with your time. If so, you should give The Pokemon Go Alternative a shot instead.

In order to play The Pokemon Go Alternative, you’ll need to get in your car, and drive to your nearest nature trail. Once there, push the power button on your cell phone until it turns off. You may feel an increase in your heart rate when you do this, that’s completely normal. It is quite possible you’ve never turned off your phone before and this is your body’s way of reacting to that. Next, stick that cell phone of yours in the glove box. You won’t need it out on the trail. There won’t be an emergency. Your kids won’t need to get ahold of you. Seriously, just leave your damn phone in the car. Not used to the absence of a cell phone, your hand will likely form the shape of a claw. That’s ok, just put a bottle of water in it for your nature walk.

The Pokemon Go Alternative- A simple hike on a trail. No phone, no gadgets, and sure as hell, no Pokemon. So what are you supposed to do on the trail if you’re not capturing little monsters or whatever they are? Look around. Listen for actual animals. Enjoy nature.

The Pokemon Go Alternative. In the end, it’s much safer than Pokemon Go. At least you don’t have to worry about crashing into a police car or stepping on a land mine.
