All aboard! Celebrate all things Irish this St. Patrick’s Day by hitching a ride on the Nickel Plate Shamrock Express, a train experience that will offer St. Patty’s Day-themed excursions for one day only, on March 12, 2022.
Family Train Rides
Visitors with children can choose a family ride, which include a salty or sweet snack and water or juice. Non-alcoholic “Irish Creams” will also be available. Family rides cost $28 for everyone age 3 and older, and those under age 3 ride for free. Family Rides are available at 11 a.m., 1 and 3 p.m.
Adult Train Rides
Adult-only trips range from $42 for coach and $47 for dining car experiences, and rides include a beer, glass of wine or a holiday mocktail, as well as a snack box. Special Irish cocktails will also be available for passengers looking to feel more festive. Adults-Only Rides available at 1, 3 & 5:30 p.m.
Both train rides are 65 minutes long. During both train rides, Irish music will fill the historic train cars, along with blessings and a visit from a leprechaun.
Shamrock Express Info
The Nickel Plate Shamrock Express departs out of Forest Park in Noblesville, located at 701 Cicero Road. Reservations are required. Visitors are advised to arrive 20-30 minutes prior to departure time, as boarding begins 15 minutes prior to scheduled departure time, and trains leave on time.
The Nickel Plate Express is a program of the Nickel Plate Heritage Railroad, a charitable
nonprofit that operates the historic Arcadia Depot and offers entertainment and educational excursions on historic train equipment out of Forest Park. The 12.5 miles of Nickel Plate Track is owned by the Hoosier Heritage Port Authority.
