Even though Indiana is a landlocked state, that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a day at the beach! Geist Waterfront Park, a 70-acre waterfront park in Fishers, is now open. It has a sand beach, giant pirate playground, toddler play structure, kayak, paddleboard, canoe launch area, trails, three small shelters, one large shelter, and restrooms for the public to enjoy. Beach Season Kick-off: Swimming at Geist's beach will officially open on Memorial Day! Year Round Operations: The park is open every day from dawn to dusk. You can enjoy the playground, go kayaking, or take a walk on the trails. But remember, you can't go swimming until Memorial Day weekend in 2025. Best of all, you don't need a SmartPass or parking pass right now. 2025 Summer Season: Starting on Memorial Day, the park will be fully open, including a concession stand for guests to purchase cool treats and drinks. Guests can also rent non-motorized watercraft or bring their own. During the summer season, non-residents of Fishers will need to pay an entrance fee, and residents must present a parking pass to access the gated park. Pedestrians and bike traffic (both residents and non-residents) are welcome and will not need a parking pass. Parking Pass Infomation for non-Fishers Residents Non-residents can purchase parking passes at the park. A day-parking pass is $25 for non-residents, and only collected during "peak" times. FREE OPTIONS: Non-residents need parking passes only if they drive into the park and occupy a parking space. Pedestrians and bike traffic, however, are welcome without needing a parking pass. The park will be open dawn to dusk with beach access 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. Lifeguards will be on duty for open swimming during beach season. The beach at the park has clean, soft sand, which is a great place to relax and build sand castles. So, bring your sand toys! The water at the shore's end is relatively shallow, making it ideal for children who want to cool off with a swim or simply dip their feet in. It's a perfect beach for young kids to enjoy safely. The beach is surrounded by four lifeguard towers. Water Activities and Boat Rentals For those seeking a day of aquatic adventure, Wheel Fun Rentals at Geist Waterfront Park offers the perfect destination. Boasting a broad selection of kayak and stand-up paddleboard rentals this beach stands out as one of Indy’s premier outdoor summer attractions. Mini Beach Playscape Another neat feature of the Geist Waterfront Beach is the mini beach playscape, where kids can play imaginatively with sand toys that are built into the sand area. Families will find a small pirate ship, a digger, a climbing structure, and two water and sand tables. This area will appeal most to toddlers and younger kids. Geist Waterfront Playground Kids can get ready to set sail on a swashbuckling adventure at the kid's play area, set just off the beach area. The ground covering is the perfect spot for all ages to play, with artificial grass and rubber padding. A massive pirate ship with two slides stands tall in the middle of the play area. A variety of climbing areas will have little ones feeling like they're sailing the seven seas. The stern of the boat even has a cut-out perfect for pretend play and a hammock to relax in. Older kids will like the tall rope climbing structure that's just waiting to be conquered by elementary and older children. Younger children can enjoy a dedicated play area, which features materials that resemble beach wood. It includes a toddler-friendly slide, climbing zones, a small hammock, and three ride-on animals. At the playground, you'll find various swings, including face-to-face swings that let you swing with your little ones. There are also regular swings and a circular rope swing. The kid's play area has it all and is sure to provide hours of fun for the whole family. Boat Launch The non-motorized boat launch is perfect for launching your kayak, canoe, or paddleboard! The boat launch is not accessible by automobile. Therefore you will need to transport your boat from your vehicle on foot or by cart.
