If you haven’t had the delight of shopping Indy’s first Boutique on Wheels, may I have the pleasure of introducing you to the ever trending Retro 101. Your wardrobe is sure to thank me.
With a background in Sales and Marketing, Heather Pirowski, owner of Retro 101, took her love for fashion to the streets. Literally. “During the Super Bowl, I did a pop-up shop at City Market, and I wanted to copy & paste the idea of popping up all over town and go where the people go. Food trucks were up & coming in the city then and since I knew no one would pay for my delicious, straight from the box cuisine, I thought that Indy and the surrounding area would really welcome the boutique on wheels concept that is certainly on trend on the West Coast.”
And with that, an idea was born.
Named after Heather’s spunky grandma, Ellie the Bus, is a 1978 Chevy mini-bus that was rescued from an Ohio barn and given new life as Indy’s very first Boutique on Wheels. Otherwise known as Retro 101, the traveling bus can be spotted around town featuring on-trend fashions and accessories with a definite retro feel. “We really cater to all ages and sizes too as we carry “curvy girl” styles. I truly feel that we cater to all women who love fashion and have fun with their style!” says Pirowski.
In addition to perusing through beautiful clothing and accessories, shoppers can find locally handmade items inside the bus as well. But the Retro 101 love doesn’t end in the wardrobe, it now extends to the home as well. “We recently launched The Space by Retro 101 in Logan Village Mall where shoppers can find all of our retro, one-of-a-kind furniture and decor daily.” says Pirowski.
