Out and About: Westfield, IN

Over ten years ago, Adam Hoffman moved from the big city life of Los Angeles, California to live out the American dream in downtown Westfield, IN. What started out as a restaurant on wheels, quickly took off and became Westfield’s beloved, Big Hoffa’s Barbeque.

My husband, Mike and I ventured out to Big Hoffa’s for a quick, weeknight bite to eat. Kids of all ages will be pleasantly surprised as the restaurant is decked out in pirate decor, a tribute to barbecue’s Caribbean roots. What a great setting to dig into some classic barbecue!

Taking home the title of #1 Barbecue on the 2012 Indy A-List, we knew we couldn’t go wrong with whatever we ordered from the menu. Mike is a bit more daring and went for the special. Not your typical barbecue dish, the “El Segundo” was made up of jasmine rice topped with seasoned french fries, macaroni and cheese, pulled pork, cilantro, sweet onions, spicy mayonnaise, and was garnished with a lime wedge. While that sounds like quite the combination, Mike thoroughly enjoyed every bite! I went for the milder option and ordered a Pulled Pork Sandwich with fries. The sandwich was delicious and the seasoned fries were addicting! You can’t stop at just a few, you’ll end up eating the whole basket, I promise.

Adding to the eclectic charm, the restaurant is connected to Main Street Shoppes, a 17,000 square foot antique mall. After grabbing a quick bite to eat, we headed over and did some browsing-a vintage lovers dream!

Next time you’re in the mood for some great, finger lickin’ barbecue, head on over to Big Hoffa’s Barbecue in Westfield. And while you’re at it, bring me a to go box filled with a little bbq pork and french fries. It’s just that good.
