Free summer concerts at Murphy Aquatic Park are one of the easier wins of the season: live music, pool time and no admission cost. Families can swim, listen from the lawn or settle into a pool chair while local bands play inside one of Avon’s favorite summer spots.
The first two concerts in Washington Township Parks and Recreation’s Summer Concert Series take place at Murphy Aquatic Park, where the concert admission is free and swimming is part of the fun. Two additional concerts round out the series later in the summer at Washington Township Park Amphitheater.

Free Concerts and Swimming at Murphy Aquatic Park
The Murphy Aquatic Park concerts give families a different kind of summer music night. Instead of sitting in folding chairs while the kids slowly lose patience, they can swim, float, play and listen to live music at the same time.
Admission is free for these concerts, and guests who want to get in the water should bring swimsuits. Pool chairs are available, but families may want to bring their own seating for the lawn. Coolers are not allowed inside the venue, and food and drinks are available for purchase.
Murphy Aquatic Park Summer Concert Schedule
- Sunday, June 14 | 8-10 p.m. | Copperpot | Murphy Aquatic Park
- Wednesday, July 1 | 8-10 p.m. | The American West Band | Murphy Aquatic Park
The July 1 concert has a Fourth of July theme, making it a good option for families looking for patriotic music and a summer pool night before the holiday weekend.
The Rest of the Avon Summer Concert Series
After the Murphy Aquatic Park concerts, the series moves to Washington Township Park Amphitheater for two more free community concerts. These dates do not include swimming, but they do give families another way to catch live music outdoors in Avon.
- Friday, Aug. 14 | 7-9 p.m. | Twenty Dollar Mule | Washington Township Park Amphitheater
- Friday, Sept. 4 | 5:30-9:30 p.m. | The Strays during the Friends of Fred Food Truck Festival | Washington Township Park Amphitheater
The September concert is part of the Friends of Fred Food Truck Festival, so families can plan on food trucks and music in the same evening. That is usually a better dinner plan than pretending the granola bar in the swim bag counts.
