I didn’t go with any major resolutions this year, but I am going to make some changes to my day-to-day routines.
2017 is the year I change the station. While driving around running errands, I’ve gotten into the habit of listening to NPR or other random AM radio talk shows. Many of these shows that used to cover a wide range of topics are now strictly political. I like politics. I like being informed about politics, but, I also need a break from politics sometimes too. I also prefer people giving me information and letting me form my own opinions. I don’t need people telling me what to think, which seems to be the way most radio talk shows are going these days.
So, in 2017, it’s back to music for me. I don’t think I’ve ever gotten mad while listening to my favorite local radio station WTTS, the way I do when some one-sided political analyst blabs on about his or her close-minded opinions. Why put myself through that, when I could drive around drumming the steering wheel and singing loudly and off-key right along with the Lumineers or The Rolling Stones.
Another change I’m going to make to my daily routine this year is, taking the Facebook app off my phone. I’m not deleting my account, just deleting my ability to access it on the go. I need to make it harder for myself to check Facebook. I’m on it too much. I WASTE way to much time there. I still want to keep up with my friends, pages I follow, and social media stuff related to my blog, but I don’t need to be able to access it constantly.
So there you have it. I’m not necessarily making any resolutions, but some minor changes in my day-to-day life. What about you? Are you planning any routine changes, big or small, this year?
