For the past 19 years, Marion County Commission on Youth (MCCOY) has printed and distributed the Youth Activity Directory (YAD) free to community members. This year MCCOY is offering the information in a free app, which will allow for greater access of information for the young people in our community.
The YAD is a comprehensive resource guide highlighting youth development opportunities in central Indiana. YAD includes more than 800 listings of volunteer opportunities, educational programs, job skill development, summer programs, and much more. The YAD connects the community to a wealth of beneficial activities, programs and organizations.
“Our community has a wealth of opportunities for young people to take advantage of – from learning to work to arts and music. The Youth Activity Directory app will give young people and parents a chance to learn about all the local opportunities and connect directly with them,” said John Brandon, President MCCOY, Inc.
The mobile app will offer features not available on the printed version, such “search ability”. Users can search for activities by type, zip code, location services, or key words. It also features an events calendar where local family-friendly activities can be found as well as trainings, workshops and conferences on youth development. The app can be downloaded for free from Apple’s App Store or Google Play by visiting: http://mccoyouth.org/youth-activity-directory.html.
The YAD is still available in a limited quantity for those that prefer the printed edition. For information on reserving hard copies of the YAD, visit: http://mccoyouth.org/youth-activity-directory.html.
