Little Foodies: World Famous Hotboys

If you’re looking to spice up your next family dinner outing, then World Famous Hotboys is the place to do it. With central Indiana locations in Fountain Square and Carmel, this hot chicken restaurant from Oakland, California, is known for its mouth-watering hot chicken and family-friendly atmosphere.

Hot Chicken, Many Ways

Like the name suggests, World Famous Hotboys definitely caters to spice enthusiasts. But even those who live on the mild side will find lots of options. The spice level at this chicken restaurant is up to you, and ranges from Southern (no spice at all) to the fiery Hot-Hot!!! (Warning: The Hot-Hot!!! spice option promises a fiery experience that might linger for “a two-day affair.”) If you like just a little kick, the Training Wheels or Mild spice levels might be for you.

Once you decide on a spice level, then you can choose how you want to experience your hot (or not-hot) chicken. The WF Chicken & Waffles is a favorite, as is the chicken Sando Meal. You’ll also find chicken wraps, chicken tenders, wings, chicken burritos, and lots more. For those with a sweet tooth, try the Bonuts (biscuit donuts), which you can dunk in caramel or fudge sauce. You can also order them “angry” to get a little sweet and spicy kick!

The kids menu features chicken tenders and nuggets, but also items that are not chicken, including mac & cheese and grilled cheese sandwiches. Kids meals come with fries and a choice of beverage.

A Family-friendly Restaurant

Families will want to visit World Famous Hotboys on Tuesdays, because kids eat for free with each paying adult at both the Fountain Square and Carmel locations.

Tuesdays are also trivia nights at 6:30 p.m. at both locations, so this is a great day to visit if you’re looking for a fun and laid-back family dinner setting.

The atmosphere at World Famous Hotboys is entertaining for kids, too. The restaurant offers free vintage video games in the back, including classics like a PlayStation and an old-school arcade game. There’s great music playing, sports on the TVs above the bar, and a quirky artistic touches everywhere, from staticy images on TVs, to a whimsical, visually delightful hallway with lights, collages, toys and flags adorning every inch of the walls. It’s a surreal, fascinating experience that you need to see to believe!
