Canal Creamery: Broad Ripple’s Newest Walk-Up Ice Cream Shop

Broad Ripple has another great ice cream shop where you can get your ice cream fix! Canal Creamery, located right on the canal in the heart of Broad Ripple, is serving up scoops of flavors like cotton candy, cookies & cream, birthday cake and strawberry, plus sundaes, shakes, malts, smoothies, floats, vegan ice cream, no-sugar ice cream, and even pup cups for your canine family members.

This walk-up ice cream shop opened in March 2024, and it is an offshoot of Canal Bistro, a local Indy Mediterranean restaurant situated right next door.

Baklava Sundae Can’t Be Missed

The specialty at Canal Creamery is the baklava sundae. The crispy, golden, honey-pecan-studded baklava is made fresh daily. It’s layered with two scoops of vanilla ice cream, hot fudge, whipped cream, chopped nuts and a cherry on top. It’s big enough to satisfy at least two people!

A Summertime Hangout on the Canal

Canal Creamery is centrally located in downtown Broad Ripple, facing the canal. In fact, it’s so much on the canal that you might not be able to spot it from the street if you don’t know where to look! Just look to the right of Canal Bistro (which is the sister restaurant of Canal Creamery), and you’ll find this ice cream spot. Canal Creamery shares a parking lot with Canal Bistro.

Once you order your ice cream, stay a while and enjoy it on the patio seating that overlooks the canal. It’s a nice place to enjoy some ice cream while also enjoying the fun and funky atmosphere of downtown Broad Ripple.
