Learn How to Camp at Conner Prairie

We Can Camp is a unique opportunity for families to camp overnight at Conner Prairie.

Love the idea of camping as a family, but don’t know where to start? Join Conner Prairie for a new camping basics program, We Can Camp! You and your family will learn basic camping skills, enjoy fun outdoor experiences and spend the night on Conner Prairie grounds in a tent. This program is perfect for first-time campers or anyone looking for a refresher.

Best of all, you don’t even need to have the equipment. Conner Prairie provides all the camping gear you’ll need, along with modern restrooms and overnight security. We Can Camp is the only time Conner Prairie will be offering overnight camping, as they don’t operate as a campground. So if you’ve ever wondered what it might feel like to sleep under the stars at Conner Prairie, this is your chance!

During the We Can Camp program, families will learn basic camping skills, such as setting up your campsite with the assistance of Conner Prairie staff. (Conner Prairie will provide a tent with two queen air mattresses, families will need to bring their own bedding.)
Other activities include archery, a guided hike through the North Woods, and fishing on the Conner Family pond. Families can also participate in workshops, and learn how to plan your own family campout, how to use a propane camping stove, how to wash dishes while camping, how to build a campfire, how to break camp and store gear, how to prepare dinner and breakfast with assistance from staff (Conner Prairie will provide a cook kit and propane stove, families will provide groceries), how to make S’mores around the group campfire, and much more.

We Can Camp is being offered twice in May: the first is on May 1 at 1 pm through May 2 at 10 am. The second opportunity is May 8 at 1 pm through May 9 at 10 am. Advance ticket purchase is required, and ticket prices are $140 per family (up to 6 people) for non-members, and $130 per family (up to 6 people) for members. All ages are welcome.
