Kids Ink Bookstore to host Harry Potter release party

Union Station may need to bring another platform into service, Platform 9 ¾ to be precise. J.K. Rowling and Harry Potter are coming back in a big way, and eager fans’ greatest chance to hop onboard will be at Kids Ink Children’s Bookstore. Kids Ink will host a Harry Potter Release Day on July 31st to celebrate the eighth installment of the series, The Cursed Child.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child will feature many changes to the book series that long-time readers should know before diving in. Perhaps the biggest change is the format: The Cursed Child is primarily a stage play written by Rowling and Jack Thorne, and what Kids Ink will be selling is the first edition script. No plans for a full novelization have been announced, but the play previewed in London, England June 7th. Tickets are already on sale for theatre performances at the Palace Theatre, which will begin July 30th.

Harry, Ron, and Hermione all come back in leading roles, but they won’t be in Hogwarts anymore. When last we saw them, they were saying goodbye to their children as they left for their own educations in witchcraft and wizardry. The Cursed Child will mostly follow Harry’s burdensome employment with the Ministry of Magic, but Hogwart’s isn’t abandoned entirely. Harry’s youngest, Albus, will come to understand the weight of the Potter name, and how uncomfortable it feels.

Kids Ink will open at its regular time on Sunday, July 31st. They’ll have plenty of copies of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child ($29.99) to sell, however those that pre-order can expect first-choice of some extra baubles and swag.
