There’s a new place in Hamilton County to visit with farm animals! Woolly Yak Ranch and Winery in Arcadia is a farm, winery and fun spot for all ages to hang out. Woolly Yak offers visitors a mix of nature, agriculture, food & drink, and animal encounters. The ranch is fun, free to visit, and a great place to enjoy the beauty of the Indiana countryside.
Explore the Grounds + Play on the Nature-Based Playground
Woolly Yak Ranch welcomes guests of all ages to explore their pecan and walnut orchards. If you’re visiting with kids, you’ll want to head straight to the play area! The playground was designed with natural elements, such as tree stumps, hay bales and logs, to encourage children to engage in free, unstructured play.

Meet the Farm Animals
Guests can visit with the yaks, Babydoll Southdown sheep, Kunekune pigs and chickens that live on the ranch. Although petting the animals is only permitted during scheduled events, visitors are free to watch the friendly animals as they munch on pasture weeds and live their animal lives.
Visitors can also unwind by the one-acre pond, and listen to the chirping Purple Martin birds as they splash in the water. These migratory birds are mostly in Indiana during the warmer months.
Animal experiences are available for a small fee, including:
- Babydolls and Storytime: During this kid-friendly experience, families can watch Babydoll lambs and sheep as they listen to a story about farm animals.
- Yak Experience: Get up close to the yaks, pet their soft coats and feed them their favorite treats.
- Cuddles and a Cuppa: Sit on a bench and enjoy cuddles with cute Olde English Babydoll Southdown lambs and sheep, all while enjoying a cup of tea, coffee, juice or water.
- Farm Animal Tours: Get hands-on with sheep, pigs and chickens, like brushing a Kunekune pig, petting Babydoll lambs and feeding the animals treats.

Enjoy Wine + Food
The winery at Woolly Yak Ranch features small-batch, artisanal wines, including a sweet version of Cabernet Sauvignon, as well as a sweet rose, Riesling and a red blend. Mimosas are also available, as well as non-alcoholic beverages, like Wild Bill’s craft sodas and lemonade. Guests are encouraged to experience a wine flight at the bar, or take a glass of wine or other beverage out into the ranch to sip as they explore.
The food menu includes four different types of grilled cheese, as well as a charcuterie cup — prosciutto and salami, cheese, fruit, veggies and crackers — in a handy cup that’s perfect for taking with you out onto the ranch.
