What’s a surefire way to get your kids to exercise? Finding a physical activity your whole family can enjoy together. If you haven’t tried a 5K walk or race yet, these events provide the perfect opportunity for a day of outdoor family fun. Many of the races in Hamilton County benefit local organizations in our community as well. Check out this list of upcoming events for a few dates to mark on your calendar.
OCTOBER
Brain Bolt 5K
Location: Carmel Gazebo at Civic Square
Date & Time: Saturday, Oct. 7 at 10 am
Details: This family-friendly 5K will feature musical entertainment, food trucks and activities for kids on the gazebo’s grass lawn. The race benefits the treatment and care of those with traumatic brain injuries. Come see MEGA Brain – an inflatable, interactive, walk-through exhibit – while you’re there!

River 5K Trail Run
Location: 10910 Eller Road, Fishers
Date & Time: Saturday, Oct. 14 at 9 am.
Details: This trail race raises funds for the four Junior High Athletic Departments in the Hamilton Southeastern District. Music and food add to atmosphere and awards will be given for top finishers.

Trinity Free Clinic 5K
Location: Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Carmel
Date & Time: Saturday, Oct. 14 at 9 am
Details: Proceeds from this race benefit Trinity Free Clinic and help provide free medical and dental care to Hamilton County’s most vulnerable families. Multiple prizes awarded, including “Middle of the Pack” awards!

Harvest Haul 5K
Location: Forest Park, Noblesville
Date & Time: Saturday, Oct. 21 at 8:30 am
Details: Bring your entire family and enjoy a morning of fun, running and raffles. All race proceeds support the Hamilton County Harvest Food Bank.

Brew HaHa Halloween 5k
Location: Four Day Ray Brewery in downtown Fishers
Date & Time: Saturday, Oct. 28 at 9 am
Details: Come in costume and run through downtown Fishers. Runners over 21 can enjoy some free beer courtesy of FDR after the race and those under 21 will receive post-race goodies too.

NOVEMBER
New Beaver Moon Twilight 5k, 2.5K
Location: Potter’s Bridge Park, Noblesville
Date & Time: Saturday, Nov. 11 at 4:30
Details: Runners will travel across Potter’s Bridge, wind along the White River to Field Drive and return to Potter’s Bridge just before dusk. A portion of the proceeds from this race go toward the Friends of Hamilton County Parks Foundation.
Bolt for the Heart – Thanksgiving Day 5K Run/ Walk
Location: Palladium Center Green in Carmel
Date & Time: Thursday, Nov. 23 at 9 am
Details: One hundred percent of the proceeds from this race go to buying automated external defibrillators (AEDs) for Indiana State Trooper Patrol cars.

Details: Over 2,000 donut holes from Jack’s Donuts of Carmel will be provided along the course as well as regular-sized donuts at the finish! Come with pet food donations to help support the Hamilton County Humane Society.
